Troubleshooting Guide - Sony CDP-297 Operating Instructions Manual

Before going through the check list below, first reler back to the connections and
operating procedures.
Should any problem persist after you have made these checks, consult your nearest
Sony service facility.
Symptom
The disc tray does not close.
Play does not start.
Cause
The disc is not placed correctly.
Dirty disc.
The disc is inserted upside down.
II is engaged.
Moisture condensation.
Sound is not heard. Loose connection.
Connection is incorrect,
Play does not begin from the first
selection.
The remote commander does not
operate the unit. (only for CDP-397)
The PHONE LEVEL control is set to
the minimum.
The unit is in the program or shuffle
mode.
The batteries are run down.
The remote commander is not pointed
at the remote sensor.
There is an obstacle between the
remote commander and the unit.
The remote commander is too far from
the unit.
Remedy
Place the disc correcttyon the disc tray.
Clean the disc.
Insert the disc with the printed side up.
Press the I_11 (1_)button again to
release it.
Leave the unit tumed on for
approximately one hour.
Insert the plug firmly.
Check the connection referring to
"Hooking Up the System".
Turn the control clockwise.
Press the CONTINUE button.
Replace both batteries.
Point the remote commander at the
sensor.
Remove the obstacle.
