MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Secure stationaryidlerwith mountingbolt.
Place sparkplug wire onto spark plug.
Set park brake.
Start Engine.
Visuallyinspecttractiondrive belt for movement.
When properlyadjusted,the tractiondrivebelt shouldnot
have any movement or rotationwith the engine running
and park brake engaged.
Shouldmovement be present,readjusttractiondrive belt
to releasebeittension asdescribedinprevious instructions.
Move tractorto a firm, level surface. /
Turn engine"OFF'.
Raise hood,remove sparkplug wire from spark plug and
securewire away from plug.
Move bladeengagement leverdownto"OFF".See Figure ._._:

TO "OFF"
Lower deckto lowest cutting position
Checkfrontto rear level.
If deck front to rear level is not correct,
this could cause blade belt problems.
30" & 33" DECKS
Measure length of blade cable extension spring. See
Figure61.
Move blade engagement lever to "ON".
Measure blade cable extension spring. Spring should
extend 1"+_1/8" for properbelt tension.See Figure61.
