Flash Compensation
Flash compensation
(available only in _ S,A, and iVl modes) is used to alter flash output
by
from
3 EVto +I EV in increments of %EV, changing
the brightness of the main subject rela
tive to the background.
Flash output can be increased to make the main subject appear
brighter, or reduced to prevent unwanted highlights or reflections.
Flash compensation
is shown in tile shooting information
display.
Normal flash output
can be restored by setting flash cornpensa
tion to +0.0. Flash exposure compensation
is not reset when the
camera is turned off.
Flashcompensation car/also be adjusted by pressing the O (_
and
buttons and rotating the command dial until the desired value is shown
in the viewfinder or shooting information display. The viewfinder display
is illustrated at right.

Flashcompensation can also be adjusted from the Custom Settings menu.
