3. Remove the hairpin clips from the weld pins on
the handle brackets• Press outward on the legs of
the lower handle, and remove it from the mower.
4. Turn the lower handle around so the notches on
the lower handle are facing forward as shown in
figure 8. Reassemble,
placing the bottom holes in
the handle
over
the weld
pins in the handle
mounting bracket,
5. Reassemble
the upper handle.
6. Place the hairpin
cTips in the inner bores in the
weld pins and attach the starter rope as instruct-
ed in the Sat-Up ;nstruations.

Adjust the drive clutch control
if the mower serf-pro-
pels with the dSve ch,qch control
disengaged,
il the
mower does not self grope[ with the drive clutch con
tro engaged,
or if drive bell is slipping (unit hesitates
while engine maimains the same speed).
Style 1 Controls:
Use the adjustmenl
wheel located in the cutch control
housing to tighten or loosen the drive belt See figure
9A,
In addition, the adjustment wheel may also be used to
determine
the position
in which the dr!ve clutch con-
trol [8 engaged.
If it is more comfortable
to have the
drive engaged
with the lever further
away frem the
handle, tighten lhe drive belt,

Style 2 Controls:
TO adjust the tension on the belt, first adjust the cable
at the cable bracket an the handt_. Proceed as follows:
1. Engage the ddve clutch control handle (squeeze
handle against the upper handle).
Measure
the
_prfog
on the drive
clutoh
cable.
If should
measure
approximately
2-1/4
inches
long as
Shown in figure 9B, inset.
2. If adjustment
is necessary,
loosen
the screw
which secures
the cable
bracket
to the upper
handle.
Slide the cable bracket
up or down as
n_cessa_.
Check fhe spring length _ts instructed
in step oi3e. Tighten
the screw
when
correct
_djusfmeat
is reached.
If additional ad]ustmeat is needed, hook the cable Into
the higher hole in the drive dutch control handle. See
figure 9B. Then readjust the cable at the cane bracket.

THROTTLE
CONTROL ADJUSTMENT
If the throttle control
requires
adjustment
or if it has
been repJaced, adjust the throttle controJ as follows
1. Remove the screw shown in figure 10. Remove
the cable clamp from the cable.
NOTE: If you h$ve a Tecumseh en_7ine, simply loosen
the screw so the cable v/ill move freely beneath
ate
clamp. It is not necessary
t_ remove
the screw and
clamp completely.
2. Push the throttle control ]ever on the handle _.1[
the way forward as far as it wit] go, then back if ofl
one "click",

the throttle

lever remains in this position
