for gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor because
somegas is heavierthanair and willsettleon thefloor.
WHAT TO DOIF YOUSMELLGAS
• Do nottryto lightanyappliance.
• Do not touch any electric switch; do not use any
phonein yourbuilding.
• Immediately call yourgas supplier froma neighbor's
phone.Followthegas supplier's i nstructions.
• If you cannotreach your gas supplier,call the fire
department.

knob. Neverusetools. If the knobwill not pushIn or
turnby hand,don'ttry to repairit, calla qualified ser-
vice technician. F orceor attemptedrepair may result
in a fire or explosion.

to inspecttheappliance and to replaceanypart ofthe

INSTRUCTIONS
1. STOP!Readthesafetyinformation aboveon thislabel.
2. Remove outerdoor.
3. Set the thermostat to lowest setting by turning the
watertemperature dial clockwise, ( F_'_) to its lowest
temperature setting(witharrowon dial)as shown.DO
NOT FORCE.
4. Turngas controlknobclockwise_jl
to "OFF" posi-
tion. Knob cannot be turned from "PILOT" to "OFF"
unlessknob is depressedslightly.DO NOT FORCE.

5. Wait five (5) minutesto clear out any gas. If you then
smell gas, STOP!Follow"B" in the safetyinformation
above on this label. If you don't smellgas, go to the
nextstep.
6. Remove(or open) inner door locatedbelowthe gas
controlunit.
7. Findpilot-follow metaltubefrom gascontrol. T he pilot
is locatedin frontof the burner.

8. If youdon'tsmellgas,turnknobon gascontrol c ounter
clockwise_e(_' to "PILOT" position. ( Figure7,page 17)
9. Push in control knob all the way and hold down.
Immediatelylightthe pilot with a match.Continue to
hold control knob in for aboutone (1) minuteafter
the pilot is lit. Releaseknoband it will pop backup.
Pilotshouldremainlit. If it goes out, repeat steps3
through8.
• If knobdoes not popup whenreleased,stopand
immediatelycall your service technicianor gas
supplier.
• If the pilot will not stay lit after several tries,
depressand turnthe gascontrolknobclockwise
or_gas ) to "OFF"and call yourservicetechnician
supplier. ( Figure6, page17)
10. Replace(or close) innerdoor. Replaceouter door if
door does not covergas controlon/offknobor tem-
perature adjustment k nob.(Figure9, page17)
11. At armslenflthaway,turngascontrolknobcounter-
clockwise_
to the full "ON" position. W arning
do not use gas control knob to regulate gas
flow. (Figure8, page17)
12. At arms length away,set the thermostatto desired
setting.The mark( • ) HOTindicative of approximate
120°F is preferredstarting point. Somelocal laws
may requirea lowerstartingpoint.If hotterwateris
desired,seeinstruction manual a nd "warning" below.
13.Replace theouterdoorif not replaced in step10.
WARNING
Hotterwater increasesthe risk of scald injury.Before changingtemperaturesettingsee instructionmanual.
TO TURN
OFF GAS TO APPLIANCE
1. Set the thermostatto lowest setting byturning the
