OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (cont'd)
IF CUTTING
LINE SHOULD BREAK
STOP MOTOR
AND UNPLUG POWER
CORD TO AVOID
ACCIDENTS.

WITH
NEEDLE
NOSE PLIERS. HUB SHOULD
BE DEPRESSED
AND RELEASED WHILE POLUNG ON THE CUTTING LINE.
THE LINE SHOULD FEED EACH TIME HUB IS DEPRESSED.
1F CUTTING
LINE IS NOT VISIBLE CAREFULLY PERFORM
THE FOLLOWING OPERATIONS.
1. Remove cotter pin.
2. Support rear plate, grip the hub and turn counter-
clockwise.
Lift off hub.
CAUTION: Do not lose the compression spring which
is inside the hub and depressed under pressure.
3. Remove the foam pad from spool. The cutting line
shou|d
now be visible.
4. Replace foam pad on spool with about 3 to 4 inches
of cutting line exiting over the top of the pad.
5. Guide cutting line through the hub eyelet pulling line
out.
6. Place spring onto small pole located on the inside
center of hub.
7. Replace the hub a_igning the tabs with the stots, and
turning in a clockwise direction locking it into place.
Be sure the spring is in its proper position inside of
hub.
8. Replace the cotter pin.
9..Remove
any debris
from
the
underside
of
your
trimmer,
plug in power cord and continue operation.

REWINDING SPOOL
When rewinding be sure to wind the line in the direction of arrow
indicated on spool (Fig. 6) Plastic is a memory maIe_ai and the line
should be recoiled form the originalcoil to the spool in a way so the
built-in memory tends to keep t_e coilst_ghtto the spool. If you recoil
in the opposite direction the coilswould be loose and tend to come
unwound. To secure line to spool, place tape over approx. 11/=-of
line, then secure tape to spool Line must be wound side by side
avoiding crossoveror crisscrossingto insure proper line advancing.
DO not wind more than a total of 20 feet of line onto spool.

available at SEARS STORES AND CATALOG STORES. You may
purchase a fully would spool (Part No. 85741) or you may purchase
a pacJ_ageof two 50 foot coils (Part No. 85771) or a large bulk spool
of line and rewind your present spool.
CAUTION: The use of heavier line, different types of line and ac-
cessories or attachments other than recommended may be hazar-
dous or cause unit failure.
TO REMOVE SPOOL FROM AUTOMATIC
HEAD ASSEMBLY
1. Follow steps 1 through 3 for broken cutting line.
2. Remove
the spool by using wrench
supplied with
trimmer. Turn drive adapter nut counterclockwise
and
slide spool off. Spool can now be easily replaced
or
rewound. (Refer to FIG. 5)
