monoxide,an odorlessanddeadlygas. Keephands,feet, hairand loose
clothing awayfrom any moving parts on engine andlawn mower.
To Start Engine

Standing behind themower, squeeze theblade control handle a gainst upper
handle.
Holdingthesetwo handles togetherfirmly,grasprecoil s tarterhandleand
pullropeslowlyuntil resistance isfelt, thenpull witha rapid,continuous, f ull
armstroke.See Figure14.Keeping afirm griponthe startercordhandle,let
the roperewindslowly.Repeat u ntil enginecranks. L etthe roperewindeach
time slowly.
Rapidretraction of starter cord(kickback)will pull handand arm toward
engine faster than you canlet go. Brokenbones,fractures,bruisesor
sprainscould result.
To Step Engine
1.
Release b ladecontrol t o stopthe engineandblade.
Wait for the blade to stop completelybefore performing anywork on the
mower or to removethe grasscatcher.
UsingYourLawnMower
Besurelawnisclearof stones, s ticks, w ire, or otherobjectswhichcoulddamage
lawnmoweror engine.Such objectscouldbeaccidently thrownbythe mowerin
anydirectionandcause serious personal injury tothe operatorandothers.
Theoperationof any lawnmowercan result inforeign objects being
thrown into the eyes,which candamageyour eyesseverely.Always
wearsafety glasses while operating the mower,or while performingany
adjustments or repairson it.

Usingas Mulcher
Formulchinggrass, r emove the grass catcher a ndsidedischarge c hutefrom the
mower.Foreffectivemulching, d o not cutwet grass. I f the grasshasbeenallowed
to growinexcess offour inches, m ulchingisnot recommended. Use the grass
catcherto bagclippings instead.
Using Grass Catcher
Youcanusethe grass catchertocollectclippingswhileyouareoperatingthe
mower.

Attachgrasscatcher f ollowinginstructionsinthe "Assembly" s ection. G rass
clippingswill automatically collectinbagasyourun mower.Operate mower
until grassbagisfull.
2.
Stopenginecompletely byreleasing the bladecontrol.Makesurethat the
unit hascometo acomplete stop.
3.
Liftdischarge doorandpullgrassbagupandawayfrom the mowerto
remove the bag.Dispose o fthe grassclippings andreinstall t he bagwhen
complete.
If you strike a foreign object, stop the engine. Disconnect the sparkplug
wire, thoroughly inspect m ower for any damage,andrepair damage
before restarting andoperating. Extensive vibration of mower during
operationisan indication of damage.Theunit should be promptly
inspected andrepaired.
