You can enable or disable the AF-assist illuminator, which assists autofocus operation when
the subject is dimly lit.

The AF assist illuminator lights automatically when the subject is dimly lit,
AUTO
Auto The illuminator has a range of about 5.0 m (16 ft) at the maximum wide angle
position and about S,Om (16 ft) at the maximum telephoto position,
(default setting) Note that for some scene modes such as Museum (_ 41) and Pet portrait
(_ 44), the AF assist illuminator may not light even when Auto is selected,
