CABLE
The throt_ controlhas been preset at the
factory and a_ustment should net be
necessary. Check adjustmentas described
belowbeforeloosening cable, If a_ustment
is necessary,proceedas follows:
1. W'_ engine not maNng, move throttle
control l ever from slowto choke posilJon.
Slowlymove lever from choke to fast
position.
2. Check that boles=A" in governorcontrol
lever and bole il governorplate line-up.
ff boles "A" are notailgned, loosen damp
screw and move throttle cable un_l boles
are aligned. T_jhten damp screw
securely.

TO ADJUST CARBURETOR

It is e_Jippedwith an idlefuol
a_us_ng needlewith a limitercap, which
alows soma adjustmentwithinthe limits
alowed bythe cap. De not attemptto remove
the Umifercap. The limitercap carl_t be
removedwithoutbreaking the a_usting
needle.
The cad0uretor h as been preset at the factory
and adjustment shouldnotbe necessary.
Hov_ver, minora_uslment may be required
to compensatefor differencesin fuel,
temperature, altifudeorload. If the carburetor
does need adjustment, proceed as folows:
In general, turning idle mixture valve In
(clockwise) decreasesthe supply of fuel to
engine gMng a leaner tueVair mixture.
Turning the idle mixture vak_ out (seunter-
ckx_. 'se) increasesthe supply of fuel to 9"_
eng=ne giving a richerfueVair mixture.
IMPORTANT: Damage to the needlo valve
and the seat in carburetor may resultif screw
is turned in too tight
PREUMINARY SETTING -
1. Air cleanerassembly must be assembled
to the carburetor when makingcarburetor
adjustments.
2. Be sure the throttle controlcable is
ac_ustedproperly(see above).
FINALSETTING -
1. Startengineand ailow fo warm for five
minutes. Make filial adjustments with
engine runn_g and shitthuction control
lever in neutral (N) position.
2. Move throttle control lever to slow
position. W;th finger, rotate and hold
throttle lever againstidlespeed screw.
Turn idlespeed screwto attain1750
RPM.
3. Whlie stil holding throttle lever aga_st
idle speed screw, turn idle mixturevalve
full traveldeakwise then c_Jnterclock-
wise untilengine runsrough. Turn valve
to a pointmidwaybetweenthosetwo
p_sitiens. Releasethrottlelever.
ACCELERATION TEST.
4. Move throttle controlleverfrom slowto
fast position, it engine hesitates or des,
tum idle mixturevalve out (cc_nteml_.k.
wise) 1/8turn. Repeat testand cen'_nue
to adjust,if necessary,untilengine
acceleratessmoothly.
Highspead stop is factoryadjusted. Donot
a_ust - damagemay result.
IMPORTANT: Nevertamperwith the engine
governor, w Nch isfactory set forproper
eng_e speed. Overspeeding the engine
above the factory highspeed setting can be
dangerous. If you think the engine-governod
high speed needs edjus_ng, contact a
Sears or other qualified service center,
wNch has proper equipment and experience
to make any necessary adjustments.
