WARNING:
To prevent serious injury, never perform
maintenance or repairs while the unit is running. Always
allow the unit to cool before servicing or repairing the unit.
For gas-powered
units, disconnect the spark plug wire to
prevent the unit from starting accidentally.
For electric-
powered units, disconnect the unit from the power source
to prevent the unit from starting accidentally.
NOTE: Some maintenance procedures may require special tools or
skills. If unsure about these procedures, take the unit to a Sears
or other qualified service dealer. Call 1-800-4-MY-HOME

more information.
TINE REMOVAL
AND REPLACEMENT
wear heavy gloves when handling the tines.
All tines should be replaced at the same time, as they will wear
evenly through normal use.
Removing
the Tines
1. Make sure the unit is off.
2. Tip the unit back so that it rests upon the shaft grip.
NOTE: To aid the removal process, it may be necessary to wash dirt
off the tines and tine shaft.
3. Remove the click pins from each end of the tine shaft. Slide the
tines off the tine shaft (Fig. 5).
4. Clean and oil the tine shaft.
installing the New Tines
1. Slide two tines onto one side of the tine shaft. Make sure the hubs
face each other and the convex sides of the tines all face the
direction shown in Figure 5.
2. Insert a click pin through the hole at the end of the tine shaft (Fig. 5).
Push the click pin ring toward the tine until it clicks into place.
3. Repeat this process for the opposite side.
