You can freely select camera settings such as the shutter speed and
aperture value to suit your shooting purposes. After settings are made,
shooting procedures are the same as for _)Auto Mode (p. 33).
See page 184 for settings that can be changed in this mode.

I Check that the camera is in Shooting mode.
• The power/mode indicator lights orange.
Turn the mode dial, select the function ',,_ _/:_,,;_'_ _
you wish to use and shoot the image. _?
• The camera operates in the following ways ,,
according to the setected function:

p The cameraautomatically setsthe shutter speed
and aperture value.
Tv The user selectss shutter speed using the < or Speed value
• button.
Av The userselectsan aperture value using the 4 or
• button.
The userselectsthe shutter speed using the < or
M • buttonand the aperture value usingthe • or
• button.
• The shutter speed and aperture value will show on the LCD monitor (or
viewfinder). The correct exposure has been set if the shutter speed and
aperture value show in white on the LCD monitor (or viewfinder) when the
shutter button is pressed halfway.
• The shutter speed and aperture value will show in red on the LCD
monitor (viewfinder) when the correct exposure cannot be obtained.
• In P, TV or AV, the combinations of shutter speeds and aperture
values can be changed within the same exposure setting (F 104).
