ALIGNMENTOFTHETEMPLATES
In orderfor the Dovetail F ixtureto functionproperly,it is necessary f or thetemplates to bealignedwith respectto dovetailbase. T he
reasonfor this, isthat dovetailcutsareat both endsof the Dovetail F ixture. W henproperlyaligned, t he resultbeingall matingcorners
will alwaysbe linedup.
NOTE: THETEMPLATE F OR CUTTING HALF-BLIND J OINTS IS BEING USED ASANILLUSTRATION IN THEFOLLOWING FIGURES,
1) Withthe dovetailbasesti!l havingthe 1/2"spacingbetween thewasher andthetemplatesupports(Referto Figure17),assemble the
templateassembly to thedovetailso that:
a) theslot in the templatebracketfits overthebolt,
b) theleg of the templatebracket i s between the washerand thetemplate support,and
c) thelegsfit intothe slotsin thetemplatesupports,asshownin Figure21.
d) NOTE: THISPROCEDURE MUSTBE FOLLOWED WHENEVER T HETEMPLATE I SINSTALLED O NTHEDOVETAIL F IXTURE. IT ISMOST
IMPORTANT T HAT LEGOFTHETEMPLATE B RACKET ALWAYS B EBETWEEN THEWASHER A NDTHETEMPLATE SUPPORT O RELSE THE
TEMPLATE WILLNOTBEPROPERLY P OSITIONED FORCUTTING ACCURATE DOVETAILS. Forinitialsetup,Allowthelegsofthe template
bracketto "bottomout" in the slotsin the tempiate supportsasshownin Figure 21.

2) LightIytighten theclampingknobsat bothendsof the baseso that thetemplate brackets are heldin placeagainstthetemplatesupports
asshown in Figure21.
3) Movethetemplatefrom sideto sideonthe templatebrackets so that it is centered with respect t o the templatebrackets, This means that
thetemplateand brackets shouldlookIikeoneof the followingfigures:Figure22,Figure23,or Figure24,Movetemplate front-to-backsothat
front edgeof templateis parallel w ith thefront of the dovetailbase.In eachcondition thetemplate and thetemplatebrackets MUSTbe
symmetrical w ith eachother.Thefiguresdo not showthe completedovetail f ixture,butonlytheunderneath sideof thetemplate with template
bracketscorrectlypositioned, i n orderthat thecorrectpositionsof the partscanbeseenclearly.
