    Set Up Your Phone You must first install and charge the battery to begin setting up your phone. 1. Install the battery.  Remove the battery from its packaging.  Insert the battery into the battery compartment in the back of the phone.     Keeping track of your battery‘s charge is important. If your battery level becomes too low, your phone automatically turns off, and you will lose any information you were working on. Always use a Sprint-approved or LG-approved desktop charger, travel charger, or vehicle power adapter to charge your battery.

Plug the small end of the charger into the phone‘s Charger/ Accessory Port and the other end into an electrical outlet.  A red status light means the battery is charging.  A green status light means the battery is at least 90 percent charged.
