If the dethatcherwill notbe usedfor30 days or longer,the equipmentneedsto be storedproperly.Followstorageinstructionsbelowto
ensuretop performancefromthe dethatcherfor manymoreyears.
PREPARING
THE ENGINE
Enginesstoredover30 days need to be drainedof fuel to prevent
deterioration and gumfrom formingin the fuel systemor on essential
carburetorparts.If thegasolinein yourenginedeterioratesduring
storage,youmay needto havethe carburetor,and otherfuel system
components,servicedor replaced.

Removeall fuel fromthe tank by runningtheengine untilit
stops.
2.
Changethe engineoil.
3.
Removethe sparkplug and pourapproximately1 oz. (30 ml)of
cleanengineoil intothe cylinder.Pullthe recoilstarterseveral
timesto distributethe oil,and reinstallthe spark plug.
4.
Cleandebrisfrom aroundthe engine,and under,around,and
behindthe muffler.Applya light film of oil on anyareasthat are
susceptibleto rust.
5.
Storein a clean,dry and wellventilatedarea awayfrom any
appliancethat operateswith a flameor pilot light,such as a
furnace,waterheateror clothesdryer.Avoidany areawith
a sparkproducingelectricmotor,or wherepowertools are
operated.
6.
if possible,avoidstorageareaswith high humidity.
7.
Keepthe enginelevelin storage.Tiltingthe engine can cause
fuelor oil leakage.
PREPARING
DETHATCHER
If the dethatcherwill not be usedfor 30 daysor longer,followthe
instructionsbelow.
1.
Storethe equipmentin a clean, dry area.
2.
If storingthe dethatcherin an unventilated area,rustproofthe
metalparts of the machinewith a lightoil or siliconecoating.
3.
Cleanthe exteriorof the engineand thedethatcher.
