Product Support Bulletin
Subject: Action Laser II PCU Handling Tips
Date: 6/5/92
Page(s): 1 of 1
This bulletin contains information on Photo Conductor Unit (PCU) handling.
Cause
Most PCU failures are due to improper handling. The oil from human hands will
contaminate the Optical Photo Conductor (OPC) belt and causes the OPC layer to
separate from the base layer. Initially it will bubble then later it will tear. The OPC
belt is also sensitive to light and other materials.
Preventive Action
To prevent the above mentioned problem, the size of the protective sheet that
wraps around the OPC belt was increased.
The second action taken was the installation of a caution sticker on the PCU.
Installation Precautions
Anyone handling the PCU needs to:
Follow the directions in the User's Guide.
Be extra careful not to touch the OPC belt when installing or removing the PCU
from the Action Laser II.
When setting the PCU down, be sure the surface is flat and clean.
Always cover the PCU and protect it from bright light.
