a first switching on the ignition lights up runs for 5 to 10 seconds and switches off then starts up straight away and continues like this for quite some time before running continuously, i noticed when you run the hot tap boiler runs continuously until you turn off the tap then its on and off, my boiler is a baxi eco 80 and quite old but been a good one.

A possible cause of the Baxi Combi 80 Eco boiler igniting for a few seconds and then shutting off repeatedly before running continuously could be an issue with the system bypass or water treatment. The boiler is fitted with an automatic integral bypass, and failure to properly flush and add an inhibitor to the system can lead to problems. Inadequate inhibitor concentration, system airlocks, or debris in the system could cause unstable operation. Additionally, if the system is not fully pumped or if there is an issue with the gas supply or ignition components, the boiler may struggle to maintain ignition. Checking the inhibitor concentration, ensuring proper system flushing, and verifying gas supply and ignition components may help resolve the issue.

The Baxi Combi 80 Eco boiler is not firing after turning the electricity back on because, although the pump engages, there is no ignition of the gas. Possible causes include a faulty microswitch, an issue with the diverter valve not activating the switches, or a tripped safety thermostat that requires a service engineer to reset.
