Adobe Technical Communication Suite Reviewer's Guide
July 10, 2012
Many organizations struggle to achieve efficient review and approval workflows.
Traditional review methods are tedious, time-consuming, and awkward.
Paper reviews can be difficult to distribute and collect in a timely manner and
can be unwieldy to work with physically. Accurately aggregating comments
from several review copies can be time intensive, repetitive, and prone to
human error. Reviewers can e-mail comments to authors; however e-mail does
not allow reviewers to associate comments precisely with particular areas of
text and is thus prone to inaccuracies, as well.
Software-based change tracking doesn't provide for concurrent reviews and
forces authors and reviewers to work in a single application.
Adobe has solved the issues of review and collaboration with PDF review
workflows. Reviewers can insert PDF comments, in a stand-alone or shared
environment. Authors can collect, aggregate, and manage PDF comments.
Reviewers and authors no longer need to work in the same authoring tool.
Adobe Technical Communication Suite 4 provides the complete capabilities of
Adobe Acrobat review and approval workflows, integrated into the Adobe
Technical Communication Suite 4 authoring tools. Through Adobe FrameMaker,
authors can enable PDFs for commenting in the free Adobe Reader application.
Authors can host shared, concurrent reviews at Acrobat.com, allowing reviewers
to see and track each other's comments, which minimizes comment redundancy
and allows reviewers to negotiate differences where appropriate.
Authors can aggregate and manage comments in Adobe Acrobat X, and even
import reviewer comments from PDF back to FrameMaker 11.
