Definitions
An Embedded Web Server feature that enables you to limit access to devices, as
well as device configuration and management features.
An Embedded Web Server feature that enables you to limit access to specific
printer functions by specifying a name and password. The Admin account has the
most permissions. The administrator must know the Admin name and password
to access the printer functions in the Embedded Web Server.
An Embedded Web Server feature that requires users to log in with a network
user ID and password for security and tracking purposes.

BOOTP (Boot Parameter Protocol) is a protocol that allows a network user to be
automatically configured (receive an IP address) and have an operating system

identity of the printer to clients and network servers and to allow encrypted
communication.
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a protocol in which UNIX,
Windows NT, and Windows 2000 servers can dynamically allocate TCP/IP
addresses.
DNS (Domain Name System) is used on the Internet for translating the names of
network nodes into addresses.
Software that is loaded on the client workstation that prepares data to be sent to
the printer.
EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol) is the standard authentication
mechanism carried over 802.1X. The EAP method is an inner authentication
protocol that provides the secure mechanism for the authentication exchange.
