12.5.5 SLP Changes in SP3

SLP Directory Agents are deployed across WAN and multi-casting is disabled across WAN. When
multi-casting is disabled across WAN, SLP Service Agents are not able to listen to DA
Advertisement from SLP Directory Agents. Service Agent cannot reregister the service details with
SLP Directory Agent if it does not receive DAAdvt and OpenSLP stores the service information in
memory. Hence SLP DA will not have information about services registered across WAN.
To support service information across SLP DA in different WAN, SLP DA must retain service
information after the SLP DA restart. This is achieved by a backup of SLP registrations.
If an SLP Service Agent registers a service with NetWare SLP Directory Agent, all the NetWare
SLP Directory Agents get the service URL information. This is achieved by NetWare SLP Directory
Agent listening to the modified events from eDirectory and using the same eDirectory.
Backup registrations and manage persistence
net.slp.isDABackup = true/false
If it is true, isDABackup backsup registrations to the backup file at an interval governed by
DABackupinterval parameter. By default the interval parameter value is 900 secs.

net.slp.DABackupInterval = <time in seconds>
This parameter defines the time interval at which the backup to file takes place in seconds. By
default it is 900 secs.
Synchronization of data between OpenSLP DA and NetWare SLP DA
net.slp.dasyncreg = true/false
If the value is true, synchronization is achieved when the DA pushes or pulls SLP registrations from
other DA's.
During startup it pulls the registration information from all the slp.DAaddresses and everytime it
receives a service registration it forwards it to the DA's defined in the DA Addresses parameter.
