CAUSE
Improper saddle fit (too tight,
resulting in poor s/n ratio).
Torn pickup shield.
Unshielded jack.
Poorly shielded
instrument cable.
Weak downbearing pressure
due to low string break angle.
Impedance mismatch
(see PLUGGING IN section).
Instrument cable too long.
Pickup binding in wire hole (wire
hole too small
or misaligned).
Pickup binding in saddle slot.

Examine the pickup. Replace
pickup if the material is torn.
Fasten the Shielding Cap
Use only fully shielded
Observe the 50/50 rule. Ramp
the string slots if necessary.
Match the pickup to the audio
input with a buffer-preamp.
