... can save a life!
If you must use your hair dryer in the bathroom, install a GFCI now! Your local electrician can help you decide which type is best for you -a portable unit that plugs into the electrical outlet or a permanent unit installed by your electrician. The National Electrical Code now requires GFCIs in the bathroom, garages and outdoor outlets of all new homes.
Why do you need a GFCI?
Electricity and water don't mix. If your hair dryer falls into water while the dryer is plugged in, the electric shock can kill you, EVEN IF THE SWITCH IS "OFF".
A regular fuse or circuit breaker won't protect you under these circumstances. A GFCI offers you far greater protection.
A GFCI can save your life! Compared to that, the price is small! Don't wait...install one now!
* GFCI is a sensitive device which reacts immediately to a small electric current leak by stopping the electricity flow.
In a double-insulated appliance, two systems of insulation are provided instead of earthing. No earthing means is provided on a double-insulated appliance, nor should a means for earthing be added to the appliance.
Servicing a double-insulated appliance requires extreme care and knowledge of the system, and should be done only by qualified service personnel.
Replacement parts for double-insulated appliances must be identical to the parts they replace. A double insulated appliance is marked with the words "DOUBLE INSULATION"or "DOUBLE INSULATED". The symbol (square within a square) may also be marked on the appliance.
This appliance is intended for household use. Use on Alternating Current (60 Hz) only.
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified technician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
This hair dryer is equipped with an Appliance Leakage Circuit Interrupter (ALCI), a safety feature that renders it inoperable under some abnormal conditions, such as immersion in water. To make sure the ALCI is functioning properly and the exclusive water sensing system (ALCI) is working, perform the following test:
Should the dryer go off and the Reset button pop out during use, this could indicate a malfunction in the dryer. Remove the plug from the outlet and allow the dryer to cool. Reset the ALCI. Reinsert the plug into the outlet. The dryer should function normally. If not, return it to a service center for examination and repair.
The Lock-in Cool Shot Button provides a burst of cool air to help set your style and seal in shine for a lasting finish.
To activate the cool shot, press and release the Lock-in Cool Shot Button once. To deactivate it, press the button again.
Note: The Lock-in Cool Shot Button may remain activated after turning off the tool. If air is cool on next use, press and release the Lock-in Cool Shot Button once to deactivate it.
For optimal performance, clean your dryer rear filter. Simply brush or wipe away dust buildup with a soft cloth or small brush.
STORAGE
When not in use, your hair dryer should be disconnected and stored in a safe, dry location, out of reach of children. Do not wrap the cord around the dryer. Allow the cord to hang or lie loose and straight at the point of entry into the hair dryer.
