Ramp
This effect creates a color gradient, blending it with the original image contents. Create
linear or radial ramps and vary the position and colors of the ramp over time. Use the Start
and End of Ramp options to specify the start and end positions. Use the Ramp Scatter
control to disperse the ramp colors and eliminate banding.
Note: Traditionally, ramps do not broadcast well; serious banding occurs because the
broadcast chrominance signal does not contain sufficient resolution to reproduce the ramp
smoothly. The Ramp Scatter control disperses the ramp colors, eliminating the banding
apparent to the human eye.
Twirl
The Twirl effect twirls the pixels of an image around a specified point at a specified
amount. Pixels nearer the center point are twirled faster than pixels in outer regions,
resulting in a whirlpool effect. Because distortion in this effect is significant, a special
anti-aliasing technique is used to produce the highest-quality image. As a result, the
Twirl effect can be particularly slow to render.
Specifies how far and in which direction to twirl the image around the Twirl
Angle
Center. Positive angles twirl the image clockwise; negative angles twirl it counterclockwise.
To animate the twirl as a whirlpool, set keyframes for the angle.
Specifies how far the twirl extends from the twirl center. This value is based
Twirl Radius
on a percentage of the maximum horizontal or vertical distance of the clip, whichever is
greater. A value of 50, for example, produces a twirl that extends to the edge of the clip.

Using the new DV Device Control Options dialog box

It is easy in Premiere 6.5 to choose an appropriate setting for your DV device control.
To do this, you choose a preset from a default list of tested devices. The preset either
matches your device control product, or has compatible settings for your product.
Before using device control, make sure your system has a properly installed OHCI IEEE
1394 card (DV card), and that your DV device is connected and turned on. If you have
problems connecting, try using a different device control preset.
