Using the New Features in Premiere 6.5

Darken Only darkens each pixel in the original clip that is lighter than the corre-
sponding pixel in the secondary clip.

Lighten Only lightens each pixel in the original clip that is darker than the corre-
sponding pixel in the secondary clip.
Blend with Original
clip. A setting of 0% shows only the secondary clip (or just the clips specified with Blend
if you are in Crossfade mode). At 100%, only the first clip is visible. Changing this slider
linearly over time gives you a standard crossfade (see online Help or the Adobe Premiere
6.0 User Guide for information on setting effect keyframes). To try the other blending
modes, set Blend with Original to 0% to see the full effect of each mode.
If Layer Sizes Differ
To use the Blend effect:
Make sure that the two source items to blend have been added to the Timeline.

Apply the Blend to one clip (A) and then, in the Blend with Layer menu, choose the

name of the track on which the other clip (B) is located.
Hide clip B by clicking the Video switch for the track on which it is located.

Note: The Blend effect only affects the selected clip and clips on video tracks below the selected
clip. However, you can blend a clip with the clip above it if you hide the clip on the upper track.
Lightning
The Lightning effect creates lightning bolts and other electrical effects, including a "Jacob's
Ladder" effect (as seen in old horror movies) between two specified points in a clip. This
effect is automatically animated without keyframes across the time range.
