Glossary
191
site folder
The folder that holds a site's .site file and its assets; by default, the site's root directory.
Site window
A GoLive window that lists all pages, images, scripts, and external assets that compose a web site.
store
Network store. A volume (disk) attached to a network server such as a WebDAV server.
tag
Alphanumeric tokens enclosed by angle brackets ( <> ), as in the <IMG> , <B> , or <H1> tags. Tags that are
used singly, such as the <IMG> tag, are unary tags. Tags that must be used in pairs are binary tags. For
example, the <H1> opening tag must always be paired with an </H1> closing tag. When this book refers
to a binary tag, it often names the opening tag only and assumes you understand that the presence of the
closing tag is implied. Generally both tags are named when necessary to clarify what is between them and
what is outside them.
translation
The GoLive translation mechanism is a preprocessor that transforms source code according to a
translation method that you provide. It is not a human-language translator. The mechanism that translates
UI strings into different local languages is called localization.
unary tag
A
tag
that is always used singly, without a closing tag, like the < IMG > tag.
virtual element
A markup object not associated with an element in the document source code. Virtual elements cannot be
edited.
WebDAV
Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning. A specification for version control based on extensions to
HTTP.
