The 8985FSP is a fiber-ready, compact SD/HD
frame synchronizer module with a video proc.
amp capability, including RGB and component
color correction. With the same low-hysteresis
synchronizer, perfect-picture mode, and
redundant-reference feature as the 8985FS,
this module is suited to production and playout
applications where synchronization needs to
be combined with comprehensive video signal
control.
The minimum delay while synchronizing is
300 pixels, which makes this unit ideal for live
applications. The SD/HD capability is ideal for
installations that will be upgraded or that have
to handle both rates. Embedded audio including
Dolby E is passed through but not processed.
Fiber-ready technology allows this module to
accept one of three types of SFP fiber optic
submodules. One submodule option can be
installed in the fiber optic rear cage connector to
provide two fiber inputs (Dual Receiver), two fiber
outputs (Dual Transmitter), or one fiber input/one
fiber output (Transceiver).
The 8900NET (Net Card) module is required
for Web browser or Newton control panel
configuration and NetConfig and NetCentral
control and SNMP signal health monitoring.
Refer to the rear module pinout and the block
diagram on the next page.
User-adjustable range: 300 pixels to 1 frame minus
5 lines
Synchronizing mode = in minimum delay mode
(synchronous input): Nominal: 300 pixels (±1 pixel)
User-adjustable range: 300 pixels to 1 frame minus
5 lines
Additional adjustable delay: 0 to 6 additional frames
RGB Color Correction
RGB range 0% to 200% in 1% steps: R gain,
G gain, B gain; total gain (controls all 3 at once)
RGB offset range 0% to 100% in 1% steps: R offset,
G offset, B offset; RGB offset (controls all 3 at once)
Gamma correction range 0.25 to 4.00 in .01
steps: R, G, and B gamma correction or RGB total
gamma correction
Proc. Amp
Gain Range: 0% to 200% in 1% steps:
Y gain, color saturation, total gain (controls Y gain and
color saturation together), Cb gain, Cr gain
Offset Range: 100% to 100% in 1% steps:
Cb offset, Cr offset, Y offset
Clip Range: 50 to 109%: Y/C White clip level, and
-7 to 50%: Y Black clip level
Hue Range: -180° to 179° in 1° steps
Synchronizing (Genlock reference signal):
The 8900GEN-SM submodule is required for
genlocking GeckoFlex platform modules
Control And Monitoring
SNMP: Yes
Web page configuration: Yes
Local configuration: No
Newton support: Yes
NetConfig support: Yes
NetCentral support: Yes
Applications
•
Synchronization of SD-SDI or HD-SDI
signals from asynchronous sources
•
Compensation of cable or processing
delay from synchronous sources
•
Timing video signals before routing or
switching and after routing
•
Low-latency synchronization for latency-
critical live broadcasts
•
Video signal color processing to correct
or match other sources
Ordering Information
This module can be mounted in a GeckoFlex
frame but not in other 8900 series frames,
including Gecko-A or Gecko-V frames. As this
module has no card-edge controls, an 8900NET
(Net Card) Network Interface module is required
to configure the module.
