    INTRODUCTION 1.1 Purpose and content of the instructions The purpose of this instruction manual is to provide the user of the machine with the information necessary for safe operation and maintenance.     2 DESCRIPTION OF THE MACHINE 2.1 Purpose and limits of use The GALVANIZED OLIVE LEAF REMOVER ON-OFF, model DEFP, is particularly suited to meet the needs of small and medium-sized olive growers. The machine is designed and built to separate olives from leaves and twigs by blowing air.

    3 Safety 3.1 General warnings For the protection of your and other people's safety, it is important to behave carefully and responsibly, and in particular to comply strictly with the instructions and warnings described in the instruction manual. In addition to the general warnings, see also the specific warnings in the various chapters, where the different stages of using the machine are set out.
  • Page 14 Tampering with shelters and protective devices is prohibited. Tampering with or removing guards or protective devices exposes persons approaching the machine to serious risk to their own safety. If guards must be opened or removed for cleaning or maintenance, they must be restored before restarting the machine. It is forbidden to operate on moving organs.

    3.2 Operator requirements The use of the machine is permitted only to professional users who are adequately trained and specially authorized. Workers entrusted with the use of this machine must receive adequate education and training in relation to safety, concerning the conditions of use of the equipment and foreseeable abnormal situations, pursuant to Article 73 of Legislative Decree 81/08.

    3.3 Residual risks The machine must be used in accordance with this manual, particularly in compliance with the intended purpose and limits of use. The machine has been designed to eliminate or minimize risks to the operator and any third parties. In any case, attention must be paid to residual risks by taking the necessary behavioural measures.
  • Page 17 PPE must be selected, depending on the actual conditions and environment of use, on the basis of risk assessment and identification of the characteristics necessary for PPE to be appropriate to the risks. To this end, reference should be made to the machine's instruction manual and other information sources (technical standards, guidelines, etc.).

    4 HANDLING AND INSTALLATION 4.1 Packaging and supply The machine is delivered disassembled in one package and must be assembled before use. Check that the power supply network is equipped with a grounding system that complies with the regulations in force in the country of installation.

    5 MACHINE USE 5.1 Safety control The following checks must be carried out before putting the machine into operation: Check the integrity of the electrical cables, and if they are damaged or deteriorate, replace them with others with the same characteristics. Check that there are no foreign bodies inside the work area.
  • Page 21 Do not manoeuvre if people are close to dangerous areas. It is forbidden to carry out operations that are not within its competence. Maintenance work may only be carried out by specially authorised personnel. Tampering with the guards and safety devices of the machine is prohibited. Report faults and malfunctions to maintenance personnel in good time.

    6 MAINTENANCE 6.1 Warnings The machine must be subjected to the maintenance provided for in the instruction manual and according to the rules of good technique to ensure that the correct functioning of the machine and in particular of the means of protection present is maintained over time. Scheduled maintenance includes checks and interventions on wear parts, with the aim of preventing interruptions and breakdowns.

    7 DECOMMISSIONING 7.1 Decommissioning and storage If the machine is to be taken out of service for a long period, it must be disconnected from the power supply, covered with a cloth and stored in a place that protects it from atmospheric agents, humidity, dust, corrosive agents and in general from all factors that may affect its integrity.
