EN Submersible pump
Application
This pump is used primarily as a cellar pump. When installed in a
shaft, the pump provides protection from flooding. It is also used
wherever water has to be moved from one place to another, e.g. in
households, agriculture, horticulture and plumbing. The pump is
not suitable for professional use.
WARNING! For your own safety, read this manual and general safe-
ty instructions carefully before using the appliance. Ensure that the
operating instructions are included with the appliance if it is given
to other persons.
Read all safety warnings and instructions. Otherwise, it may result in
electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Please save the manual for
future reference.
Before starting the pump, note the following
The pump can be connected to any earthed socket which has been
installed according to the regulations. The socket must have a sup-
ply voltage of 230 V/50 Hz.
Caution! When the pump is to be used near a swimming pool or gar-
den pond or in their immediate vicinity, it must be equipped with a
RCCB (residual current circuit breaker) with a rated fault current of
no more than 30 mA. The pump must not be operated while people
are in the swimming pool or the garden pond!
Before starting to use your new submersible pump, please have an
expert check that the ground connection, zero conductor and RCCB
(if needed) correspond to the safety regulations of the power suppli-
er and work flawlessly.
In addition, the following must be checked:
- The electrical connections must be protected from moisture.
- If there is danger of flooding, the electrical connections must be in-
stalled in an area safe from flooding.
- The circulation of caustic fluids, as well as the circulation of abrasive
materials, must be avoided at all costs.
- The pump must be protected from frost.
- Avoid the pump running dry.
- Access by children should be prevented with appropriate mea-
sures.
The pump is designed for the circulation of water with a maximum
temperature of 35 °C. Do not use the pump for other fluids, especial-
ly not for motor fuels, cleaning fluids, or other chemical products!
Installation
The submersible pump is installed in a stationary position with fixed
pipeline or in a stationary position with a flexible hose.
You should never install the pump by suspending it by its pressure
pipe/hose or power cable. The submersible pump must be suspend-
ed from the specially provided handle or placed on the bottom of
the shaft. To guarantee that the pump works properly, the bottom of
this place must be free of sludge and dirt of all kinds.
If the water level drops too much, any sludge in the shaft will dry out
quickly and stop the pump from starting up. Therefore it is neces-
sary to check the pump regularly (by carrying out start-up tests). The
float switch must be positioned in such a way that the pump can im-
mediately be started.
Note! The shaft should have minimum dimensions of 40 x 40 x 50
cm, so that the float switch can move freely.
Mains supply
Your new submersible pump is equipped with an earthed plug ac-
cording to regulations. The pump is designed to be connected to
a 230 V/50 Hz earthed socket. Make sure that the socket is secured
with a fuse (min. 6 Amp.) and in excellent condition. Insert the plug
into the socket and the pump is ready to go.
Important! If the mains cable or plug suffers any damage from exter-
nal action, repair work may only be performed by a qualified elec-
trician using only approved spare parts. This will ensure that the re-
quired safety standards are followed.
Starting the pump
After having read these instructions carefully, you can set the pump
to work, reconsidering the following items:
1. Check that the pump is resting on the bottom of the shaft.

2. Check that the pressure pipe/hose has been attached properly.
3. Check that the pump is connected to a 230 V/50 Hz earthed sock-
et.
4. Check that the socket is in good condition.
5. Make sure that no water and moisture come into contact with the
mains supply.
6. Avoid the pump running dry.
Venting the pump before use
Before using the pump, always ensure that the pump is vented prop-
erly. Tilt it backwards and forwards several times until no more air
bubbles appear, then wait at least 15 seconds before starting the
pump.
Setting the ON/OFF switch-point
The ON and OFF switch-point of the float switch can be set by ad-
justing the float switch in its cable holder.
Before you put the pump into operation, please check the following:
1. The float switch must be installed so that the level of the ON
switch-point and the level of the OFF switch-point can be reached
easily and with little force. To check this, place the pump in a ves-
sel filled with water, raise the float switch carefully by hand and then
lower it again. As you do this, note whether the pump switches on
and off.
2. Make sure that the distance between the float switch head and
the cable holder is not too small. Proper operation is not guaranteed
if the distance is too small.
3. When you set the float switch, make sure that it does not touch the
bottom before the pump switches off. Caution! Risk of dry running.
This appliance should not be used by children or by people with lim-
ited physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lacking in experience
and/or knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person responsi-
ble for their safety or receive instructions from this person as to how
the appliance is to be used. Children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not play with the appliance.
Cleaning and maintenance
We recommend regular inspection and maintenance to ensure long
equipment life and uninterrupted operation. The pump should be
cleaned out with clear water after every use.
Important! Disconnect the mains plug before all maintenance work.
Never use solvents such as petrol, alcohol, ammonia, etc. These sol-
vents may damage the plastic parts of the pump.
In the case of stationary installation, the function of the float switch
should be checked every 3 months. Any fibrous particles which may
have accumulated inside the pump housing should be removed
with a water jet. Every 3 months the bottom of the shaft should be
cleaned of mud. Remove deposits on the float switch using clear wa-
ter.
Cleaning the impeller
If excessive deposits collect in the pump housing, you must disman-
tle the bottom part of the pump as follows:
1. Remove the intake cage from the pump housing.
2. Clean the impeller with clear water. Important: Do not put down
or rest the pump on the impeller.
3. Re-assemble in reverse order.
