  • Page 5 PoE Switch Alternatively you can connect and power the camera using a PoE switch. When connecting to a Zip NVR via a PoE switch the camera may still appear automatically, however, this will depend on switch compatibility etc. If the camera does not appear automatically you can simply add the camera manually as described in the Zip NVR manual.

  • Page 9 Index Where-ever possible the camera should be positioned in-front of a vehicle so that the vehicle approaches the camera. It can be slightly above or to one side, however, the more straight on the camera is to the vehicle the better your results will be. Additionally the camera shouldn't be installed too high so that it is looking down at the vehicle from too steep of an angle.

  • Page 14 IP-CAM3600 4.2.1 Find and Assign a Static IP Address - Easy IP Scanner To assign a static IP address to your camera you will need a PC or laptop connected to the same network as the camera and have Easy IP Scanner downloaded.

  • Page 17 Index To download ZipFinder visit ZipNVR.com/widget.html 4.2.2.1 Identify the Correct Network Settings Before finding and assigning a static IP address to the camera we need to know the correct settings for the local network the camera and PC are connected to. We need to know the Subnet which we can work out from the PC's IP address, the Subnet Mask and the Default Gateway.
  • Page 18 IP-CAM3600 In this example the PC is connected with an ethernet cable and the PC's IP address is 192.168.1.10, the Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0 and the Default Gateway is 192.168.1.254. We can work out the Subnet for the local network as this is the first 3 sections of the PC's IP address.
  • Page 19 Index As we get a reply showing bytes and time we know this address is already in use so we will have to try another. Press the Up arrow on your keyboard to show the last command you typed in, 192.168.1.250.
  • Page 20 Open Zip Finder and it will automatically search for all Zip IP cameras and recorders connected to the network. In this example it has discovered our single Zip IP camera connected to the network. By default a Zip IP camera's IP address will be 192.168.10.1 Tick the Check Box at the start of the camera listing.
  • Page 21 Index The list will refresh, the IP column will now show the IP address we have assigned to the camera and the Initialized column will read operation succeed. Now that the static IP address has been set we know we can always connect to the camera as the IP address will not change.
  • Page 22 Zip Finder installed already you can download it here ZipNVR.com/widget.html. Open Zip Finder and wait a few seconds for it to search for all available Zip IP cameras and recorders. Look down the list for the camera you wish to connect to and click its IP address in the IP column.
  • Page 23 Password 777777 5.2 Recommended Settings When first connecting a Zip camera there are a few settings we recommend changing before use so that camera operation and performance is as efficient as possible. These can be done through the NVR or via the browser menu.
  • Page 24 IP-CAM3600 When setting the time and date through a browser on a PC or laptop you can choose to synchronise the camera's time to the computer's time. Alternatively you can set the time and date manually. To set the date and time head to Remote Settings > System > General > Date and Time.
