    INTENDED USE The Alert-iT Pager is intended to assist in caregiving by notifying the carer to attend the patient in order the verify their wellbeing. Indications for Use This device is designed and manufactured as a social aid intended only to be used as an aid for a caregiver.

    Safety Precautions This Alert-iT product has been designed with due regard to reliability and integrity. While it offers a highly vigilant alerting method, it is always possible that a distress condition can go undetected for a variety of reasons (including malfunction) and in life threatening situations it is advisable to use the Alert-iT system in conjunction with additional techniques.

    Unintended adjustment of settings Changing the radio address (without also changing it on the receiving equipment) will result in a RF Fail notification on the receiving equipment and any resulting alarm notifications will no longer be received. Serious Incidents Any serious incident that has occurred in relation to the device should be reported to the manufacturer and the competent authority of the member state of the European Union/country in which the user and/or patient is established.

    The “Pager” is used to alert caregivers to alarm and fault notifications from paired monitors and transmitters. This handbook assumes the pager has been fully configured by your supervisor to work with all the monitors in your “home” or “ward” and has the correct operational protocol enabled. This book gives details of a variety of standard protocols that may be relevant as well as more general control features accessible to the two levels of user Caregivers are notified by visual and audible alerts (if enabled).

    By default users can turn off the pager and manage monitors. Note: The ability to turn off the pager can be hidden from the “User” settings menu via the “Advanced” > “Further Settings” > “User” screen, by setting “Turn Off”” to “Deny”.

    It is often useful to know how long the patient has been in a distressed state. Upon resetting the alarm at the monitor, the alarm notificaiton is cleared from the pager screen, the elapsed timer is stopped and the event is written to the alarm history log.

    Using “Standard” and “Discrete” Mode The pager can be toggled between a “Standard” and a “Discrete” mode on the home screen via the soft key next to the icon. Failsafe Radio Many of Alert-iTs safety critical monitors have a feature called “Securelink” enabled.

    INITIAL SETUP Using the Belt Clip and Lanyard The pager is provided with a detachable belt clip and lanyard that can be used to attach the pager to the users clothing. Charging The pager should be charged before initial use.

    Press the left selection button to turn the pager off. Note: The ability to turn off the pager can be hidden from the “User” settings menu via the “Advanced” > “Further Settings” > “User” screen, by setting “Turn Off”” to “Deny”.

    RECOMMENDED CONFIGURATIONS Due to the wide variety of environments the pager is used in, it is essential that the management team configure the pager appropriatly for their envirnoment. The following section details typical environments and suggested settings that should be configured.

    The pager is typically pre-paired to the provided monitors when supplied as a system, however if additonal monitors are required, or if you have a repleacement pager, the following sections can be followed.     This option allows the pager to be forced into silent mode every time the charger is plugged in. This can be useful when the pager is only used during the day and is charged at night. Or if multiple pagers are used, as the pager on charge does then not produce nuciance alarms.
