Preparations
Checking the supplied items

Preparing the battery pack

Insert the battery pack into the battery charger, and then connect the
battery charger to the USB Type-C® terminal of a USB PD (USB Power
Delivery) power supply using a commercially available USB Type-C
cable (USB-C® – USB-C).
• Place the battery pack on the battery charger in the direction of . Slide the
battery pack in the direction of the arrow as far as it will go.
• Use a USB PD power supply with an output of 30 W (15 V / 2 A) or more and a
USB Type-C cable (USB-C – USB-C) that supports 3 A or more.
• Charging is also possible when using a USB PD power supply with output of
less than 30 W, but charging may take a long time when charging two batteries
at once.
• If you use a USB PD power supply or USB cable with specifications other than
those described above, charging may not be performed properly.
• If two batteries are inserted into the battery charger, they will be charged
simultaneously.

• Depending on the USB PD power supply, the CHARGE lamp may turn on and

off repeatedly before charging starts. However, once the CHARGE lamp or
charging status indicator lamps stay lit, charging will proceed normally.

Insert the battery pack into the camera.
• Open the battery cover, and then insert the battery pack while pressing the
lock lever.
Inserting a memory card into the camera
You can use CFexpress™ Type A memory cards and SD memory cards with this
camera.
Open the memory card cover and insert the memory card into Slot 1.
• Both Slot 1 and Slot 2 support CFexpress Type A memory cards and SD memory
cards.
• Insert a CFexpress Type A memory card with the label facing the monitor, and an
SD memory card with the terminal facing the monitor. Insert the card until it clicks
into place.
• You can change which memory card slot to use by selecting MENU 
 (Shooting)  [Media]  [
[
 Recording Media]. The Slot 1 is used in the default settings.
Hint
• When you use a memory card with the camera for the first time, it is recommended that you
format the card on the camera for more stable performance of the memory card.
Attaching a lens

Remove the body cap from the camera and the rear lens cap from the
rear of the lens.

Mount the lens by aligning the two white index marks (mounting
indexes) on the lens and camera.

While pushing the lens lightly toward the camera, turn the lens slowly
in the direction of the arrow until it clicks into the locked position.
Attaching the XLR handle unit (supplied)
By attaching the XLR handle unit, up to
four audio devices can be connected to the
camera simultaneously.

Remove the shoe cap from the camera
and the handle shoe cap from the XLR
handle unit.

Slide the XLR handle unit into the
Multi Interface Shoe until it reaches
the back of the shoe. Then, be sure to
securely tighten the screws on either
side using a coin, etc.
Performing initial setup for the camera
By establishing a Bluetooth connection (pairing) between the camera and a
smartphone, you can perform initial camera setup such as date and time settings
from the smartphone. Install the dedicated application on your smartphone in
advance, and then follow steps 1 to 3 under "Procedures for initial camera setup."

Installing the dedicated smartphone application
Install the application from the following website. Also, update to
the latest version of the dedicated application. The specifications
of the dedicated application may change without notice.

Procedures for initial camera setup

Set the power switch to "" (On) to turn on the camera.

Select the desired language and then press the center of the control
wheel.

Follow the instructions on the camera screen to connect the camera with
your smartphone and perform the initial setup.
• You can also configure or change the initial settings later from the MENU of the
camera.

Press the MODE (Mode) button, use the control wheel to select
 (Movie), and then press the center.

Press the REC (Recording) button to start recording.
Movie recording can be started from any shooting mode in the default setting.

Press the REC button again to stop recording.

the control wheel to select the desired
shooting mode, and then press the
center of the control wheel.
