INTRODUCTION The lion alcolmeter® 700 is the latest in Lion’s range of breath alcohol measuring instruments for breath alcohol testing applications in traffic law enforcement, commercial health and safety programs, and in medicine. This instrument incorporates a memory to record the data from each subject’s breath test, with the relevant date and time.
PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION The lion alcolmeter® 700 uses an electrochemical fuel cell sensor to measure the concentration of alcohol vapour in the subject’s breath; a measured amount of which is drawn from the mouthpiece into the fuel cell. In the fuel cell a voltage is generated in proportion to the breath alcohol concentration: it is therefore amplified and displayed in terms of the subject’s alcohol level.
5. RED INDICATOR AND 6. GREEN INDICATOR The two LED indicators GREEN and RED are used to indicate the level of the subject’s alcohol reading and to provide a visual indication of analysis occurring. page 4 lion alcolmeter® 700 User Handbook...
