DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS

Safety or driver assistance features are not a substitute for the driver's responsibility to operate the vehicle in a safe manner. The driver should remain attentive to traffic, surroundings and road conditions at all times. Read your Owner's Manual for important feature limitations and information.
Following are some of the many advanced driver assistance systems that may be on your vehicle. Refer to your Owner's Manual for more information on all available systems.

CHEVY SAFETY ASSIST PACKAGE

  • To turn some of the following systems on/off or to change some settings, go to Settings > Vehicle > Collision/Detection Systems on the infotainment screen.

FORWARD COLLISION ALERT – The Vehicle Ahead Indicator is green on the instrument cluster when a vehicle that you're following is detected, and it is amber when you're following a vehicle ahead much too closely. When approaching a detected vehicle directly ahead too rapidly, a red alert flashes on the windshield and rapid beeps sound (if selected).

  • Press the Forward Collision Alert button on the steering wheel to set the alert timing to Far, Medium or Near.

FOLLOWING DISTANCE INDICATOR – The following distance to the vehicle detected ahead is indicated in seconds on the instrument cluster.

AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING – The system works with Forward Collision Alert to help you avoid or reduce the severity of front-end collisions with a detected vehicle you're following. Camera technology is used to automatically provide hard emergency braking or enhance the driver's hard braking.

FRONT PEDESTRIAN BRAKING – During daytime driving below 50 mph, the system can detect pedestrians directly ahead and displays an amber indicator on the instrument cluster. When approaching a detected pedestrian too quickly, a red alert flashes on the windshield and rapid beeps sound. The system may also automatically provide hard emergency braking or enhance the driver's hard braking. Nighttime and low-visibility performance are limited.

LANE KEEP ASSIST WITH LANE DEPARTURE WARNING – The system may help you avoid collisions due to unintentional lane departures. The Lane Keep Assist indicator is green if the system is available to assist. If the vehicle approaches a detected lane marking, the system may assist by gently turning the steering wheel to help prevent lane departure and displays an amber . If active driver steering is not detected, the amber may flash and beeps may sound on the side of the departure direction as the lane marking is crossed. The system does not continuously steer the vehicle; the driver needs to steer and be in complete control of the vehicle. Alerts do not occur when using the turn signal in the lane departure direction or intentional lane departure is detected.
Note: IntelliBeam automatic high-beam headlamps are included with the Chevy Safety Assist Package. See Exterior Lighting.

SAFETY ALERT SEAT – The driver's seat pulses — left, right, or both sides — to alert the driver of the direction of potential hazards. Audible alerts or seat-pulsing alerts may be selected.

BLIND ZONE STEERING ASSIST – The system works with Lane Keep Assist to help you avoid a potential collision with a detected vehicle in an adjacent lane. While driving, a warning symbol is displayed on the left- or right-side mirror when a moving vehicle is detected rapidly approaching or is in that side blind zone. The warning symbol flashes if a turn signal is activated when a vehicle has been detected on the same side. If a vehicle is detected in the adjacent lane that you are entering, the system provides a brief, firm steering wheel turn to alert you to take action and beeps sound or the Safety Alert Seat pulses (if selected). The green Lane Keep Assist indicator will turn amber and the warning symbol will flash on the left- or right-side mirror. The steering correction will occur even when using the turn signal in the lane departure direction.

INTERSECTION AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING — The system can help you avoid or reduce the severity of an intersection collision with a detected cross-traffic vehicle. It provides alerts and may automatically provide hard emergency braking or enhance the driver's hard braking.

REAR PEDESTRIAN ALERT – During daytime driving with the vehicle in Reverse, the system can detect pedestrians directly behind the vehicle and will display an amber indicator on the infotainment screen. When a pedestrian is detected close to the vehicle, the indicator flashes red and the Safety Alert Seat pulses or rapid beeps sound (if selected). Nighttime and low visibility performance are limited.

PARK ASSIST WITH BRAKING – During low-speed parking maneuvers, the system provides "distance to closest object" information on the instrument cluster and a beep sounds (if selected). When an object is very close, 5 beeps sound (if selected). The system may apply hard emergency braking, if you have not already done so, to help reduce the severity or help avoid collisions at very low speeds.

REAR CROSS-TRAFFIC BRAKING – When in Reverse, the system warns of detected cross traffic approaching in either direction and provides alerts and hard emergency braking to help reduce the severity or help avoid collisions at very low speeds.

REAR VISION CAMERA – When the vehicle is in Reverse, a view of the area directly behind the vehicle displays on the infotainment screen.

  • Touch the Guidance Lines button on the screen to turn the guidelines on or off.

HD SURROUND VISION – The system uses multiple cameras to display a high-resolution image of the area around your vehicle along with front- and rear-camera views on the infotainment screen. It works at low speeds and can help when parking.

  • Touch one of the Camera View screen buttons on the screen to change the view.
  • Select the Settings screen button to turn the guidelines on or off.

See Driving and Operating in your Owner's Manual.

REAR CAMERA MIRROR

The Rear Camera Mirror provides a wider, less-obstructed field of view than a traditional mirror to assist when driving, changing lanes and checking traffic conditions.

  1. On/Off
Pull/push the lever at the bottom of the mirror to turn the video display on/off.
  2. Selection Control
Press and release the button to select the brightness, zoom or tilt setting.
  3. Adjustment Controls
Press and release either button to adjust the selected setting.

TRACTION CONTROL & STABILITRAK SYSTEMS

The traction control system limits wheelspin and the StabiliTrak® electronic stability control system assists with directional control of the vehicle in difficult driving conditions. Both systems turn on automatically every time the vehicle is started. Turn off traction control if the vehicle is stuck and rocking the vehicle is required.

  • To turn traction control or electronic stability control (ESC) on or off, go to Controls > Drive & Park > Traction Control.

See Driving and Operating in your Owner's Manual.

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING WITH TIRE FILL ALERT

The Low Tire Pressure light on the instrument cluster illuminates when one or more of the vehicle's tires is significantly underinflated (excluding the spare tire). Fill the tires to the recommended pressures listed on the Tire and Loading Information label, located below the driver's door latch. Current tire pressures can be viewed on the Driver Information Center.
The Tire Fill Alert provides visual and audible alerts to help when inflating a tire to the recommended cold tire pressure (excluding the spare tire). The horn sounds and the turn signals change from flashing to solid when the recommended pressure is reached.
Note: Refer to your Owner's Manual for additional information about routine tire maintenance.
See Vehicle Care in your Owner's Manual.
