General Operation
1.
Install dies (reference page 6-10).
Tip: The hole in the Main Vertical Shaft (F) is sized to fit the included hex wrench (B).
Place the wrench in the hole to quickly rotate the shaft or to keep the shaft stationary
while installing or removing dies/adapters.
2.
Lower handle (G).
3.
Insert material and adjust the Main the Vertical Shaft (H) height so the working surfaces of
the dies rest lightly on the material (I).
• Following the "UP" arrow (J), turn the shaft to the right to raise the shaft, decreasing
compression.
• Following the "DOWN" arrow (K), turn the shaft to the left to lower the shaft, increasing
compression.
4.
Raise handle (G).
G
5.
Increase compression by turning the
black collar in the "DOWN" direction a ¼ turn.
• If more compression is needed keep
increasing compression by ¼ turn increments.
• Proper setup for any die combination must
end with the handle (G) being fully horizontal.
Specific Use Notes:
Stamping: Stamps take some trial and error to get the desired look. The main variables to consider
include the dampness of the leather, amount of compression applied and the type of leather. Test
these variables on a scrap piece of leather until the desired effect is achieved.
Hole Cutting: When setting the tool for cutting using the steps above, do not insert the material in
step 3. Instead, adjust the shaft height so that the die cutting surface rests on the cutting board when
the handle is fully lowered. Increase the compression ("DOWN") if a test cut is incomplete. If the
cutter sticks in the cutting surface, decrease compression ("UP"). If the cutter is not performing well,
check that it isn't plugged with fabric.
