    PC. When employees are out of the office or abroad, they can call Skype back office via smart phone to save money. With SkyATA's easy and friendly user interface, you can make Skype calls in the similar way as you can do with the traditional landline. You can set speed dial numbers for Skype contacts or SkypeOut contacts from SkyATA Speed Dial setting page.

    The first step of setting up SkyATA is to install Skype on the computer. 2.1 Install Skype and Quick Start If Skype has been installed, check if it is the version which SkyATA claims to support as SkyATA user manual section 1.4 Minimum System Requirements.

    3. Setup SkyATA 3.1 SkyATA Hardware Setup Get the SkyATA dongle from SkyATA package and take off the USB connector cover. Plug SkyATA dongle USB connector into the computer USB port. Connect one telephone cable between the RJ-11 port of SkyATA dongle and the telephone RJ11 port.
  • Page 10 SkyATA setup program. To install the SkyATA setup software: After the SkyATA dongle is connected to the computer, it will take up to 15 seconds for the “Found New Hardware” window to appear.
  • Page 11 The “Select Setup Language” window pops up. Choose a preferred language by scrolling down the selection bar. After choosing the language, click “OK”. The “Welcome to the SkyATA Setup Wizard” appears. Read the on-screen instructions and click “Next”.
  • Page 12 In the next window, check the box of “I accept the agreement” after reading the agreement carefully. Then Click “Next”. Note: Users can click “Back” to go back to the previous step anytime during installation. In the next window, designate a folder for the installation. A default folder will appear.
  • Page 13 In the next window, choose a preferred folder for SkyATA program’s shortcuts in the Start Menu folder. A default folder will appear. If this is not preferred folder, click “Browse” and choose a folder from the list. Users can choose not to create a Start Menu folder.
  • Page 14 Carefully examine the configurations. If the configurations need to be changed, click “Back” to make necessary modifications. If not, click “Install” to start the installation. 11. In the next window, users can choose to launch SkyATA. Click “Finish” to finish the setup.

If the suitable VC redistributable is already installed in your PC, there won’t pop out this window. For SkyATA’s normal operation, Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable is required.

If the installation of VC redistributable is ignored during SkyATA installation, users can uninstall SkyATA and install again with VC redistributable installed when the above “Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable installation” window pops out.   • Page 18 Skype GUI when there is any callout or hangup activity. Otherwise, SkyATA might not work correctly. They can use the computer during Skype talk, but the calling window can’t be closed. Install Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable For SkyATA’s normal operation, Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable is required.
  • Page 19 Skype Audio settings For Skype 8.129.0.202, users need to set SkyATA as the audio device for Skype as below figure. Without the correct setting, you will have problems hearing each other during Skype calls.
  • Page 20 Skype Appearance After choosing “Settings” from Skype GUI, Settings window pops out. Choose “Appearance” and the default setting is “Use system setting”. If the color of Skype background is still not light, please choose “Light” to make SkyATA work properly.

If the filled in Skype account name format is like e-mail someone@sample.com or mobile phone number, SkyATA can’t use such information for callout.   • Page 24 This setting is most suitable for users in front of the computer when they use SkyATA for a Skype call. They can do whatever with the computer. SkyATA can’t detect Skype GUI correctly since users might interfere with Skype call status window.

    Skype chat message like “*123” for the extension number 123 to SkyATA’s Skype before making the call or when the call is in progress. SkyATA will dial the extension for the caller. For details, please refer to FAQ 25 of Chapter The following are detailed descriptions about Options for SkyATA settings.

    This page provides the basic operation settings, including Language selection, Launch at Windows startup, Caller ID, Ring at startup, Delay before callout, Audio recovery, SkypeOut country code, area code, Add keys for dialout, If SkyATA is running, prevent computer entering sleep or screen protection, Reverse phone line polarity, When phone is off-hook, call Skype (DOD), Forward fixed PBX EXT.
  • Page 27 Chinese. The default language is determined by the “Select Setup Language” setting during SkyATA setup program is installing. If users install SkyATA in the operating system whose language is not in our supported languages list, Language will be set to English automatically.
  • Page 28 Ring at startup If this setting is enabled, an initial ring from the connected phone will be activated to inform users that SkyATA is now ready to use, once the device initialization is successfully completed. The default setting is disable.

    The default setting is disable and Skype callers can send Skype message to dial PBX extension number. 4.3.3 Audio Setting Page In Audio setting page, users can change audio settings including SkyATA device volume control and Windows default audio device setting.

    Windows default audio device setting If SkyATA is set as Windows default speaker, users might not be able to listen to music as they did before. They can change Windows default speaker as the preferred speaker for playing music and click “Apply” or “OK”. After they stop listening to music and want to use SkyATA, they need to make sure if the microphone and speaker in Skype audio setting are SkyATA.
  • Page 32 Ring signal type and frequency selection Here supports two types of ring signal wave: Sinusoidal and Trapezoidal. Four types of ring signal frequency, 20Hz, 25Hz, 30Hz & 50Hz are supported. Users can choose a proper ring signal frequency according to the ring frequency of the adopted phone.
  • Page 33 For SkyATA PBX application, they need to set the appropriate settings of busy tone when SkyATA is connected to one PBX. By selecting a country, the device will activate the specific busy tone frequency and cycle adopted by local Public switched Telephone Networks in that country.

    4.3.5 Speed Dial Setting Page Users can use SkyATA Speed Dial page to set speed dial for any Skype contacts or SkypeOut numbers. There are up to 5 digits of Arabic numeral for speed dial setting. They need to upgrade SkyATA version to 3.0.0.9 or later and do the settings on the Speed Dial page.

    During SkypeOut calls, users can dial the extension number from phone keypad. It is suggested to dial the extension number when voice prompt is stopped having an accurate extension dialing.     4.6 Answer a Skype/SkypeIn™ Call Pick up the phone receiver and proceed with the call when there is an incoming call. Use the Skype window interface to answer a call. When there is a Skype/SkypeIn™ incoming call, click the Call/Answer button from Skype GUI with the mouse or keyboard.
