Connecting to Wi-Fi

It's easiest to connect your devices using your modem's default Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password – once connected, your devices will remember the Wi-Fi password for you.

You'll find the default Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password on the barcode sticker located on the base of your modem.

Your modem will automatically connect your devices to the best Wi-Fi network possible (i.e. 5GHz). Older devices may only be able to connect to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

warning It's good to love your neighbor, but not enough to give them free Wi-Fi! Always set a Wi-Fi password and only share it with people you trust.

4G Backup service

Whenever your modem's 4G light is lit, that means your modem has automatically connected to the 4G Backup service because your nbn® service is unavailable, such as during initial setup or network maintenance.

Make sure your modem is always plugged in for the nbn® so it can switch back to nbn® automatically as soon as it's available.

Once you're connected to the nbn®, please contact us if you notice the 4G Backup service has turned back on for an extended period of time as we may need to investigate an nbn® service issue.

warning While using 4G Backup, you can get a better signal by placing your modem:

  • Near a window
  • Away from direct sunlight
  • On a shelf or table
  • In a clear space
However, be sure to keep your modem plugged in for nbn ® at all times.

warning Please don't remove your 4G Backup SIM card as it won't work in other devices.
