CAUTION: If the length of either the cable connecting to the RS485 port or the AUX port of the gateway is more than 3281 ft (1000 m), the switch for the 120 ohm terminating resistor corresponding to the port must be set to ON. CAUTION: Before configuring the gateway, ensure the power switch is set to ON.

NOTICE: The standard FlexOM Gateway requires an Internet connection via the Ethernet port. The FlexOM-4G Gateway includes a pre-installed SIM card and 5-year 4G cellular plan. INSTRUCTION: • Confirm the gateway model by checking the model number and SN listed on the label on top of the gateway card.
(inverters, weather instruments, etc.) to the CPS portal or an optional third-party data logger or SCADA. 2.4.1 RS485 Pass-Through The FlexOM Gateway can be connected to a third-party datalogger or SCADA controller by connecting the RS485 cable to the AUX port to enable the equivalent of a direct transmission connection with the daisy chain.
2.4.2 Modbus / TCP Pass-Through The FlexOM Gateway can be used as a Modbus / TCP server when connected to a third-party SCADA system and will forward various commands to the daisy chain.
RS485. The default baud rate for the FlexOM Gateway is 9600 baud. This setting can be changed manually. Ensure all devices in the RS485 daisy chain are set to the same baud rate.
Internet Interfaces 2.5.1 Ethernet (FlexOM Gateway) The FlexOM Gateway requires a connection to the Internet using Ethernet. Any LAN firewall ports must be opened both ways (for incoming and outgoing communications) before commissioning the gateway, specifically TCP 1884 with destination IP 47.254.52.209...
All electrical connections comply with local electrical standards. DANGER: High voltage can cause electric shock and series injuries during operation of the FlexOM Gateway. Do NOT touch components such as the AC cables, circuit breakers, and connectors while the FlexOM Gateway is energized.
Option 1: Internal Wire Box Installation The FlexOM Gateway card can be installed inside the inverter wire box with no external power source required. The card can be mounted within the wire box for all CPS inverters (excluding the 250/275 kW models). The FlexOM Gateway can support a maximum of up to 32 inverters or devices connected to the daisy chain network.

Remove the screws that attach the inverter communication board inside the wire box using a #1 Phillips bit and replace the screws with the standoffs included in the accessories kit. Repeat this process for each of the three (3) screws and standoffs while keeping the communication board in place. Torque the standoffs to 7 in-lb (0.79 N⋅m) using a 3/16”...
Page 17
After all the standoffs have been inserted, install the FlexOM Gateway by carefully aligning the 6-pin Port A with the 6-pin header in the upper left-hand corner of the communication board. Install the three (3) screws removed in Step 1 into the standoffs to secure the gateway in place, then torque to 7 in-lb...

After pins A+, B-, and G are connected, insert the connector into the terminal block in the port on the bottom of the inverter communication board, behind the FlexOM Gateway. If applicable, connect the third-party datalogger to the AUX port in the bottom left-hand corner of the FlexOM Gateway using the 3-pin connector provided in the accessories kit.

Installation and return to this page to complete hardware installation by following Step 10. To connect to the Internet via Ethernet, insert the RJ45 LAN cable into the Ethernet port of the FlexOM Gateway. NOTE: The LAN connection must be able to access the Internet without port filtering behind the firewall. See note on page X regarding LAN firewall ports.
Install the FlexOM Gateway into the base of the housing and tighten it at the positions shown in the figure below with the standoffs provided in the accessories kit; torque to 7 in-lb (0.79 N⋅m) using a 3/16 in socket hex driver.
Page 21
Align and close the upper and lower housings according to the positions of the screw holes, then use a #1 Phillips screwdriver to fasten the two parts together with M3 screws. To ground the gateway once installed in the DIN rail enclosure, clamp the ground wire into the screw at the position shown in the figure below.

Installation and return to this page to complete hardware installation by following Step 9. To connect to the Internet via Ethernet, insert the RJ45 LAN cable into the Ethernet port of the FlexOM Gateway. NOTE: The LAN connection must be able to access the Internet without port filtering behind the firewall. See note on page X regarding LAN firewall ports.
Option 2b: DIN Rail Flat Mounting (in External DAS Box) The FlexOM Gateway card can also be installed inside an external DAS box and mounted with a DIN rail clip. This section describes the steps for option 2b: flat mounting.

Installation and return to this page to complete hardware installation by following Step 7. To connect to the Internet via Ethernet, insert the RJ45 LAN cable into the Ethernet port of the FlexOM Gateway. NOTE: The LAN connection must be able to access the Internet without port filtering behind the firewall. See note on page X regarding LAN firewall ports.
4G Cellular Antenna Installation (FlexOM-4G Only) 3.4.1 FlexOM-4G Accessory Kit In addition to the standard accessories, the FlexOM-4G Gateway accessory kit includes: • One (1) IP65 4G cellular antenna • One (1) antenna coaxial cable (3 m) • One (1) cable gland •...
Installation Instructions Screw one end of the antenna cable into the cable connector of the gateway (applicable to FlexOM-4G model only). Pass the SMA end of the coaxial antenna cable through the disassembled cable gland parts in sequence (see numbering in diagram), then tighten the cable glands again.
NOTE: The daisy chain must be connected to the terminal block in the inverter communication board for internal wire box installation (see Installation Option 1, Section 3.3.1) OR to the 5-pin terminal block in the FlexOM Gateway for external DAS...
Activate the FlexOM Gateway NOTICE: No Wi-Fi dongle is required to interface or activate the FlexOM Gateway. The gateway will connect to the Internet via Ethernet or 4G, and the gateway will connect to the CPS Connect Pro app via Bluetooth.

To manually adjust the connection settings: Tap Internet Settings. The Ethernet default setting is DHCP; this can be disabled to manually enter the Ethernet IP information if necessary. To do so, tap Ethernet in the Internet Settings Interface to access the Ethernet settings. Tap Save to save any changes made.
Scan Modbus Devices To scan devices in the connected daisy chain, tap Device Settings. The gateway is configured with a default Modbus ID range of 1-32. To manually edit the Modbus ID range: Tap More to go to Settings.
Page 33
Tap Comm-ID Discovery Range. The existing Modbus ID must be deleted by tapping the minus sign button ( - ) before a new ID can be assigned.
Page 34
A unique Modbus ID must be assigned to each inverter. After all Modbus devices have been found and identified, tap Save in the upper right corner. After scanning, a device list will appear with the default ID. The user can either rescan the target IDs individually in the list, or scan the daisy chain in full.
Complete Activation After configuring the Modbus settings, users can enter the site name, gateway name, country, and time zone. Tap Save to save this site information and complete the installation process.
Recovery / Reboot To reset or restart the FlexOM Gateway and clear all current setting parameters, tap More to access Settings. • Tap Recovery the gateway to default to clear all the current FlexOM Gateway setting parameters and restore the factory settings.
