Cleaning the Espresso Machine When using the espresso machine for the first time, clean it as follows: Place a cup with a volume of at least 355 mL on the drip tray grid. Press the double cup bu on. It takes some time for water to flow through internal pipes before the espresso machine starts dispensing water from the portafilter. -
