    Safety information General safety information • Read and understand this owner’s manual and labels attached to the Snowblower completely before oper- ating the Snowblower. 1. Owner’s manual • Be sure to perform the pre-operation checks and periodic maintenance. • Do not allow children or anyone who does not under- stand how to operate the Snowblower correctly to operate it.
  • Page 8 Safety information • Do not operate the Snowblower in low visibility condi- tions, such as early morning and night time. • Do not start the engine with the guard or cover removed. • Check for foreign objects in rotating parts such as the auger and impeller or in the chute before operating.
  • Page 9 Safety information • Remove wooden blocks, cans, hoses, wires, ropes and all other foreign objects from the location you wish to clear snow from before operating the Snow- blower. • To clear snow on gravel, make sure there is a clear- ance between the auger housing and ground to pre- vent gravel from being blown together with snow.
  • Page 10 • If abnormal vibrations, noises or odors are noticed coming from the Snowblower, stop the engine and ask a Yamaha dealer to check and/or perform main- tenance. • When you park the Snowblower, stop it on a flat sur- face and lower auger onto the ground.

    Controls and features Control function Engine switch The engine switch controls the ignition and the starter motor system. STOP START 1. “STOP ” 2. “ON ” 3. “START ” 4. Engine switch key 5. Grip 6. Engine switch STOP Position to stop the engine. The key can be inserted or removed.

    Controls and features Oil level warning light The oil level warning light comes on when the engine oil level falls below the specified limit during operation. If the oil level warning light comes on, stop the engine immediately, and add engine oil up to the specified level.

    Controls and features Push the chute deflector control lever The chute deflector moves downward to blow snow nearby. NOTICE Do not press the chute deflector control lever forcefully. Doing so may damage the chute deflec- tor system. Drive clutch lever Used to make the Snowblower travel.

    Controls and features Fuel tank cap Turn the fuel tank cap counterclockwise to remove. 1. Fuel tank cap WARNING After refueling, make sure the fuel tank cap is tight- ened securely. Otherwise, the fuel may leak from the fuel tank, which could result in a fire hazard. Fuel gauge Indicates the fuel level in the fuel tank.

    Pebble and gravel roads Increase Skid is expendables. If the skid is worn away and needs to be replaced, have a Yamaha dealer replace it. Scraper The scraper is used to flatten the surface to clear snow. Adjust the clearance between the road surface and the scraper end according to road surface conditions (See page 5-16).

    It is the time to replace the damper. Have a Yamaha dealer replace it. • If the damper is used with it out onto the shear bolt guard, the shear bolt may be broken.

    Controls and features WARNING • Do not look into or put your hands near the auger when it is rotating. Rotating parts are dangerous and can cause serious injuries. • When removing snow lodged in a rotating part, stop the engine, remove the engine switch key, and wait until all moving parts have stopped.

    Snowblower. • For safe use, conduct checks according to your own knowledge and ability. Consult a Yamaha dealer about any check-related issues that you deem beyond your ability to manage.

    Before operation • Refill the fuel tank slowly. • Refill the fuel tank before it becomes empty. Checking the engine oil Remove the engine oil filler cap, and make sure that the engine oil is at the correct engine oil level. Position the Snowblower on a level surface.

    Operation Starting the engine WARNING Never operate the engine in a closed area. Exhaust fumes contain harmful chemicals such as carbon monoxide. Operating the engine in poor ventilated area or indoor could cause the carbon monoxide poisonous. Turn the shift lever to the “N” (Neutral) position, and make sure that both auger clutch lever and drive clutch lever are releasing.

    Operation Clearing snow WARNING • Do not point the discharge chute toward people, buildings or cars. Otherwise, it could cause inju- ries or damage to property. • If any foreign objects have become lodged in the impeller, auger, or track, stop the engine immedi- ately and remove them.

    Operation To stop the Snowblower, lower the auger to the ground and move the shift lever to a position other than the “N” (Neutral) position. WARNING Position the Snowblower on a level surface. If you need to stop it on angled or soft ground, exercise care not to fall off or move the Snowblower.

    4000 ft. (1219 meters). If you operate your engine at altitudes above 4000 ft. (1219 meters) consistently, have your local Yamaha dealer perform the necessary carburetor modification. This engine should be oper- ated in its original configuration below 4000 ft. (1219 meters) as damage may occur if high altitude carbure- tor kit is installed and operated below 4000 ft.

    • As correct disposal of used oils is mandated by regu- lations (such as pollution prevention act), consult a Yamaha dealer for oil disposal guidelines. • For the first engine oil change, change the engine oil after 20 operating hours (that is, when you have refu- eled four times).

    Storage To have your Snowblower checked or maintained before storage, consult a Yamaha dealer. If you conduct the checks and maintenance by your- self, handle the gasoline carefully and use the following procedure. WARNING Gasoline is a highly volatile and flammable fuel.

    Storage Short-term If you need to store the Snowblower for more than 3 months, follow steps 1–20 to make sure it is ready for the next use. Stop the engine and remove the engine switch key. Disconnect the negative lead from the negative battery terminal.
