025-9647-02 Central Unit Product Manual 2 Introduction 2.1 Overview The Central unit is a centralized hardware platform that hosts several applications that are important to a system. It acts as the control element for messaging between console positions and the interface gateways at a single location.
025-9647-02 Central Unit Product Manual Status The Status LED is used to indicate the general operating condition of the Central unit. After power is supplied, the LED turns to amber and blinks off for a tenth of a second at 1-second intervals as the unit works its way through booting up.
Central units, when delivered new, contain disk images for both “Old World” and “New World” so that they can be compatible with, and installed in, either type of system. Up until MAX Dispatch 5.4, if a “New World” Central unit was installed in a “New World” MAX Dispatch system, the “Old World” disk image was not used for anything.

In particular, systems using the AVL feature (Automatic Vehicle Location) should have AVL-related services on a Baytrail CPU. The software running on the Central unit is CPU-specific and may also be specific to MAX Dispatch system versions. The following list describes compatibility limitations: •...
If you have the hardware in hand, examine the part number: • Zetron P/N 901-9686 is the Atom • Zetron P/N 901-9715 is the Baytrail with Realtek Ethernet controllers • Zetron P/N 901-9740 is the Baytrail with Intel Ethernet controllers •...
Figure 1. Two Central Units in a Dual Unit Rack Mount Plate Zetron iRIMs, VoIP Radio Gateways, Radio Gateways, and Central units all have similar external cases and all use the same rack mount plates. A dual unit rack mount plate may save rack space and/ or provide a more intuitive hardware layout.
025-9647-02 Central Unit Product Manual 3.5 Network Connections The cable connection to the Central units are shown in the following diagram. In a system with only a single Central unit, only the connections for the Main Central unit and the “Primary” (RED) local network would be made.
025-9647-02 Central Unit Product Manual 5. If there are any interface gateway units to be used in the system, they may be connected to the ports Ethernet 3 and/or Ethernet 4. Black Ethernet cables are provided for this purpose. 3.6 USB Ports The USB ports on the rear of the Central unit are used at the factory and for certain types of system troubleshooting.

By adjusting this, a trade-off is available between CPU load and how quickly a span failure will be detected. It is not necessary to change this setting unless so advised by Zetron Technical Support. Choosing a value of “0” disables this mode of checking in favor of “ARP Monitoring”.
4.2.4 Repository Hosting State MAX Dispatch keeps important software, system information, and configuration settings in the Repository. The Repository is stored on at least one Central unit, which acts as the Repository Host. The Repository Host is selected by Activator during activation of the Central unit.
Good cybersecurity practice requires changing the default password immediately after logging in for the first time. Continued use of default passwords is a significant security vulnerability. If you forget the new password, you must contact Zetron Support for password recovery. •...
