Important safeguards
When using your iron, basic safety
precautions should always be followed,
including the following:
1 Read all the instructions.
2 Use the steam generator only for its
intended use.
3 Never hold the generator base set under
the tap.
4 To protect against a risk of electric shock,
do not immerse the steam generator in
water or in any other liquids.
5 The socket outlet should always be turned
to Off before plugging or unplugging from
outlet. Never yank cord to disconnect from
socket outlet; instead, grasp plug and pull to
disconnect.
6 Do not allow power cable to touch hot
surfaces. Let steam generator cool
completely before putting away.
7 Always disconnect the tank from the base
unit when filling with water and emptying.
8 Always disconnect the steam generator
from the electrical supply when cleaning or
when not in use.
9 Do not operate steam generator with a
damaged cord or if the iron has been
dropped or damaged. To avoid the risk of
electric shock, do not disassemble the
steam generator, but telephone Morphy
Richards for advice. Incorrect reassembly
can cause a shock when the steam
generator is used.
10 If the need arises to change the mains
cable on your steam generator or the iron,
please return to Morphy Richards service
department at the address on the front of
this booklet.
11 Place all electrical appliances out of the
reach of children. Close supervision is
necessary for an appliance being used
near children. NEVER allow a child to
operate this appliance.
12 Do not leave the steam generator
unattended whilst plugged in or on an
ironing board. Never allow the mains lead to
overhang the work surface.
13 Burns can occur from touching hot metal
parts, hot water or steam. Use caution
when using your steam generator. If your
iron is placed for a few moments on the
iron rest plate, this plate may reach very
high temperatures. In this instance, do not
touch the iron soleplate or the iron rest
plate until the iron and the iron rest have
cooled down.
Special instructions
1 If your steam generator does not work,
check the following points:
Has the temperature control been set to the
required temperature? Is the plug in its
socket? Is the plug itself or the socket
faulty? (Check the mains socket by
plugging in another working appliance).
2 Warning: When in use, your iron should
never be placed flat and left on an ironing
board.
3 To prevent damage to the fabric being
ironed, follow the temperature guide
carefully. (Test the inside of the hem of the
garment).
4 If you drop or severely knock your steam
generator this could cause internal damage
even if the outside appears alright. Have it
checked by Morphy Richards.
5 The temperature of accessible surfaces
may be high when the appliance is
operating.
