Preparation

You will need:

  • A smartphone or tablet using Bluetooth 4.2 or later.
  • The latest version of our app, downloadable via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • A SwitchBot account, you can register via our app or sign in to your account directly if you already have one.

Please note: If you intend to use the Cloud Service feature, you will need a SwitchBot Hub Mini (sold separately).

Getting Started

  1. Open the battery cover, insert two AAA batteries following the " + " and signs. Then close the battery cover and press it down until it clicks into place.

  2. Open the SwitchBot app and sign in.
  3. Tap" + " icon at the top right of the home page. Find the Motion Sensor icon and select, then follow the instructions to complete the setup.

Safety Information

  • Keep the device away from humid or hot environments.
  • Remove the batteries when not used for a long period of time.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the device.
  • Use only the type of batteries specified in this manual.

Detection Range

Light Sensor

Light Sensor senses whether it is bright or dark in the target environment. You can define the threshold for being bright or being dark in the app. Navigate to the Settings page of Motion Sensor in the app for more information.

How to Use

Reset Button Facing Up
It is recommended to install Motion Sensor 1.2 to 2 m (3.9 to 6.6 ft.) above the ground. The detection range will be reduced when it is placed lower than 1.2 m (3.9 ft.). There will be detection blind spots when it is placed higher than 2 m (6.6 ft.).

If you are a pet owner, it is recommended to install Motion Sensor 0.1 to 0.2 m (3.9 to 7.9 in.) higher than your pet(s) with the Reset Button facing down, to prevent false alarms triggered by your pets.

Place Motion Sensor without the Base
Place Motion Sensor directly on a table or shelf or stick it to a flat surface using the 3M double-sided adhesive tape.

Note: Make sure the lens is facing towards the desired area to be detected and is placed close to the edge of the table or shelf.

Mount the base to the back or the bottom of Motion Sensor. The base can be attached to an iron surface or a magnet.

You can also stick the base to a flat surface using the 3M double-sided adhesive tape. After Motion Sensor is properly installed, tilt it to a desired angle.

Note: Make sure the lens is facing towards the desired area to be detected and is placed close to the edge of the table or shelf.

Tips for Applying the Adhesive Tape
Make sure the target surface is dry and clean. Apply pressure to Motion Sensor / the base for 60 seconds after installation. Keep it away from any heat source such as light bulbs.

Battery Replacement, Firmware Upgrades and Resetting Factory Settings

Open the battery cover, remove the old batteries and insert two new AAA batteries following the " + " and "-" signs. Then close the battery cover and press it down until it clicks into place

Firmware Upgrades
In order to improve user experience, we will regularly release firmware updates to introduce new functions and solve any software defects that may occur during usage. When a new firmware version is available, we will send an upgrade notification to your account via our app. When upgrading, please make sure your product has sufficient battery and make sure your smartphone is within range to prevent interference.

Resetting Factory Settings
Long press the Reset button for 15 seconds or until the LED indicator light is on. Note: After the device is reset, all settings will resume to default values and the logs will be erased.

Troubleshooting

It is not sensitive within the detection range set during high temperature.
When the room temperature reaches 36C (97F), which is very similar to the human body temperature, your Motion Sensor will be less sensitive. Please cool your room by turning on the AC or fan.

There are a lot of false alarms

Adjust the angle of your Motion Sensor to avoid the window area, heat sources, and any areas with constantly moving objects.

How to enable Cloud Services?

A SwitchBot Hub Mini (sold separately) is required if you want to use Cloud Services. After setting up a Hub Mini, please navigate to the app homepage. If a cloud icon shows up on the Motion Sensor card, this means it is being scanned by Hub Mini. Tap the Motion Sensor card, tap Settings and enable Cloud Services.
