MICROWAVE COOKING BASICS
What can I cook?
When used correctly and carefully your microwave oven is a
fast, efficient method of cooking fresh fish, raw vegetables and
convenience meals, for defrosting frozen food or reheating chilled
food.
A good microwave cookbook is helpful for recipe ideas.
What should not be cooked?
A microwave oven should not be used for cooking eggs or nuts in
shells or food in sealed packaging. The intense heat may cause the
food to explode.
Meat can be defrosted in a microwave oven, but should always be
cooked immediately after defrosting in a conventional oven or grill
to ensure it is cooked through.
