AC DISCHARGE CONTROLLER MANUAL MODEL AC1006 GENERAL INFORMATION 1 GENERAL INFORMATION 1.1 Introduction The Kaufman & Robinson, Inc. AC Discharge Controller is designed for use with a Kaufman & Robinson Electron Source. The intended use of this controller is to provide AC voltage and current to the Electron Source neutralizer for ion production and neutralization of the ion beam. -

Inc. 1.3 Specifications The following specifications pertain to the Kaufman & Robinson, Inc., AC Dis- charge Controller, Model: AC1006. 1.4 Dimensions The controller is designed to be mounted in a standard 19-inch (48.3 cm) rack mount cabinet. The height of this controller is 1.75 inches (4.45 cm) and its depth is approximately 21 inches (53.3 cm). -

AC DISCHARGE CONTROLLER MANUAL MODEL AC1006 OPERATION 3 OPERATION The AC Discharge Controller can be operated in Local and Remote modes. Mode selection between Local and Remote modes is controlled using a switch located on the front panel of the controller. A lighted indicator is located above and below this switch to indicate local or remote mode. -

AC DISCHARGE CONTROLLER MANUAL MODEL AC1006 OPERATION Remote Shutdown indicator – Indicates that remote shutdown has been com- manded through the analog or RS-232 remote interface. Enable/Standby switch – Enables or disables the output. When Standby is selected, the Discharge Amps Setpoint is displayed. When Enabled is selected, the controller regulates the Cathode Amps/Volts to main- tain the Discharge Amps Setpoint. -

This approach uses an RS-232 straight through cable that connects to a DB-9 male connector. 3.2.1 Direct RS-232 connection from computer to AC discharge controller The AC Discharge Controller can be operated from a host computer using an RS-232 port on the computer. -

The dis- charge will drop to zero and the Standby LED will be illuminated. -

AC DISCHARGE CONTROLLER MANUAL MODEL AC1006 OPERATION The AC Discharge Controller can be operated using analog. 3.2.5.1 ANALOG Input/Output The AC Discharge Controller can be remotely controlled using a 0-5 volt DC analog interface. The analog remote uses 0-5 volt signals for controlling and monitoring the controller. -
