The following procedure outlines the steps for setting the Service Tag using the CD shipped with a replacement system
board.
NOTE:
If the system has the correct line of business BIOS, you do not need to perform the BIOS flash on the system.
1. Before flashing the Service Tag:
Ensure the system is connected to AC power.
Ensure the battery is in the system.
Load the Service Tag flash CD into the CD-ROM.
2. Press <F12> to select the option to boot to the CD.
3. Type 1, and then press <Enter> to upgrade the BIOS to the correct line of business.
4. Type either 1, 2, 3, or 4 and then press <Enter> to select the appropriate system type BIOS.
NOTE:
The BIOS flash runs and restarts the system. Allow this process to complete before moving to the next step.
5. Press <F12> to select the option to boot to the CD.
6.
Type 3 and then press <Enter> to run the Service Tag utility.
