Sidewinder 3 is recommended for all 1/10 buggy and truggy applications that weigh less than 5lbs (2.25kg) ready to run. Do not use controller in heavier vehicles such as eRevos or eMaxx class vehicles.
Sidewinder 3 can handle a maximum of 3s LiPo or 8 cell NiCad/NiMh. The motor in your combo has a separate rating. Always use the lower of the motor or the controller's ratings.
CONTROLLER | MOTOR | MAX CELLS |
SIDEWINDER 3 | 4600 | 3S LiPo/8NiXX |
5700 | 3S LiPo/8NiXX | |
6900 | 2S LiPo/7NiXX | |
7700 | 2S LiPo/7NiXX |
The Sidewinder 3 system is a high performance system; you must use high discharge cells!
Castle recommends Sidewinder 3 for use with our 14 Series Castle Motors. If you choose to use another motor, you must monitor the motor, battery, and controller temperatures carefully. Never let the motor get above 200°F.
Always start with the stock gearing. If you change any part of the setup, such as the gearing, motor or battery, you must check your motor temperature frequently on the initial runs. If you can't touch the motor for 2 seconds, it's too hot. If the motor gets too hot, reduce the pinion size, increase the spur size, or reduce the pack voltage.
Sidewinder 3 is programmable via your transmitter. There are also many more programmable features that may be accessed using your Windows PC and a Castle Link USB adapter, B•Link Bluetooth Adapter, or a Field Link card (not included.) See the Drivers' Ed Guide for more details on transmitter programming and the Castle Link software for the latest features from the Castle engineering team.
Sidewinder 3 is not intended for operation while submerged in liquid. If unit is operated in wet conditions, rinse with fresh water to remove dirt or corrosives, then fully dry unit.
