Connecting the DVD Player to the Receiver
Connect the DVD player to the receiver as shown in the main diagram on the right,
using the supplied cables. You can plug the DVD player's power cord into one of the
receiver's switched AC outlets.
Coaxial Digital Cable
The coaxial digital cable (orange) carries the digital audio bitstream to the receiver
for decoding.
Audio and Composite Video Cables
The audio and composite video cables carry the standard analog audio and
composite video signals to the receiver. Use the red wire for the right audio channel,
the white wire for the left audio channel and the yellow wire for the video connection.
S-Video Connections
If your TV or monitor has an S-Video input you can use an optional S-Video cable to
connect the DVD player to the receiver for improved video quality over the standard
composite video connection. If you use an S-Video cable to connect the DVD player to
the receiver you must also use an S-Video cable to connect the receiver to the TV or
monitor.
Controlling the DVD Player with the Receiver Remote
The receiver's remote comes pre-programmed ready to control the DVD player
included with your HTB-806DV system.
To operate the DVD player with the receiver's remote, press the DVD/6CH button,
then press the button for the operation you want to perform.
Use these buttons on the receiver's remote to control the DVD player:

Page up & down
Activates the
on-screen display
Return to the
previous menu screen
Skip discs
Select discs
Activates the
menu system
Skip tracks
DVD transport controls:

Connecting Other Components
To connect your TV and other components to the receiver, refer
to pages 9 – 11 of the receiver's instruction manual.
Programming the Receiver Remote to Control
Other Components
You can program the receiver's remote to control a Kenwood CD
player, cassette deck or MD recorder, as well as your TV, VCR,
and cable tuner from other manufacturers.
1. Look up the control code numbers for the brand of component
you want to progam on pages 30 – 33 of the receiver's
instruction manual.
Write the numbers
down.
2. Press the source
button
for
the
component you want
to
control.
The

flash once when you
press the button and

once more when you
release it
3. Press and hold the
REMOTE
SETUP

button
until
the
remote's LED flash-
es twice.
4. Using the remote's
numeric
buttons,
enter the compo-

nent's code number.
The remote's LED
will flash twice to
indicate that the
code has been suc-
cessfully entered.
5. Aim the remote at
the component and
press
the
SRC
POWER button. The
component should
turn on or off.
• If the component
does not respond,
repeat steps 1 – 5
with the next control
code number for that
brand of component
