    Warnings and safety notes Before first use Always read the full instructions before taking your first blood glucose measurement. Check the measuring unit in accordance with the instructions for use. Risk of infection The monitor and accessories may come into contact with human blood and are therefore a possible source of infections.
  • Page 3 Preparing the monitor and lancing device Remove cap Remove cap from the monitor’s lancing device. Insert lancet needle Insert lancet needle in the lancing device. Hold the shaft of the lancet needle and remove protective disc by turning. Retain the protective disc. Carefully replace the cap on the lancing device.
  • Page 4 Preparing the monitor and lancing device Select the penetration depth Turn the dial until the required bar is in the centre in line with the black mark- ing. Tension the lancing device Pull back the slider in the direction of the arrow until it stops and then release.
  • Page 5 Insert test strip Insert the test strip into the slot on the rear end of the blood glucose monitor with the contacts first. The device is ready for measurement as soon as the test strip symbol and the flashing blood droplet symbol are displayed.

    Taking a blood sample Prick Firmly position the lancing device slightly to the side of the centre of the fingertip. Press the trigger. The blood sample taken must: • be in droplet from and must not be spread • be at least 1.4 mm (original size ).
  • Page 7 Apply blood to the test strip Hold the blood input gap on the test strip against the drop of blood until the gap is completely filled and the measuring device in the display starts count- ing backwards. Wait for approx. 5 seconds until the blood glucose value measured is shown in the display.
  • Page 8 Disposing of the lancet needle Disposing of the lancet needle Carefully remove the cap from the lancing device. Place the retained protec- tive disc on a surface and stick the tip of the needle into it. Carefully remove the lancet needle from the lancing device. Properly dispose of the test strip and lancet.
  • Page 9 Evaluating critical measured values Very low blood glucose level Seek medical attention imme- < 20 mg/dL diately. Low blood glucose level Have a snack. < 70 mg/dL Follow your GP’s instructions. High blood glucose level On an empty stomach > 100 mg/dL Seek medical attention.
