1.8.3 Climbing grating stairs You should exercise particular caution when ascending or descending stairs where all or part of the steps are made of gratings. Before any scheduled stair climbing, a test run must first be carried out with the scalamobil (without the wheelchair user!) or the scal- acombi (without the person to be transported!). -

In the “manual” drive pro- gram, the operator can always climb stairs if, for example, faults have occurred in another drive program. 3.11 Important note about stopping after climbing stairs In functional terms, the brakes of the scalamobil are intended solely for stair climbing. Due to the nature of the system, these brakes do not therefore have a function when on level ground, inclines or slopes. In this respect, a wheelchair with scalamobil attached and wheelchair wheels that have been removed must never be left unattended. -

However, after each use of the stair climber, the battery pack should be recharged to prevent unwanted stop- ping on stairs due to empty batteries. -
