    Preface PREFACE INTRODUCTION This manual is part of the documentation set that is delivered with your EchoStar Digital Satellite Receiver (motorized models). This manual gives an explanation and an instruction on the use of the EchoNAV user interface. This manual describes all features of the EchoNAV user interface family for the: DVR-7000 HDD, DVR-5000 HDD.
  • Page 4 To deal with all these channels and the changing way that people watch TV, the software engineers at EchoStar have resurrected the tried and true channel list approach of the venerable LT-8700 and enhanced it to deal with the demanding requirements of today's world.
  • Page 5 Throwing a party but you don't want to be bothered with changing the CDs after every song? EchoStar's DVR-7000 has a digital audio jukebox which can store up to 500 songs. Five hundred songs is somewhat more than 15 hours of music and while that is plenty to cover most parties the real beauty is again in the lists.

Note that the menu page is dynamic which means that it changes with the selections you make. You can customize:: System, to set the dish type you use.

  • Page 23 2.6. SYSTEM UPGRADE PAGE This menu page allows you to upgrade the receiver’s software. EchoStar provides software updates Over-The-Air (OTA) which means that you can upgrade your system via the satellite. If you are not able to receive the satellite/transponder, you always can upgrade the software through the SERIAL PORT (RS232) at the rear of the receiver and the downloaded software from the EchoStar website.

Favorite lists are lists of your favorite items that are created and maintained by you. In every mode you can setup a number of favorite lists.     Familiarization Section 4 THE ELECTRONIC PROGRAM GUIDE (EPG) Most digital channels transmit program data as an EPG. Digital channels that transmit EPG offer you program information in advance for a certain period of time. Dependent of the service provider, EPG is offered in different ways.

The radio InfoBanner can show the same information as discussed with the TV InfoBanner. 5.3. THE DVR INFOBANNER The DVR InfoBanner shows the information related to the actual recording. The information shown is (some information only if provided during the recording by the service provider).

    The main difference is that you can setup and organize the favorite lists as required. EchoStar has already pre-named the favorite lists to help you getting started. It is however possible to change the name of the favorite list to something that is meaningful to you.

    The EPG information is not always available. Sometimes the service provider (who sends the EPG information) supplies only the program name, the now/next informa- tion or sometimes nothing at all. EchoStar has no influence on this matter. Make sure the local time is set otherwise you can not view EPG information because it needs the correct time (Refer to the Local Time menu).
