Stop Recording signal is still active. Incorporated into the A200S aircraft installation is a “Record On” jumper. During bench test of the A200S, removal of the jumper disables the record function of the recorder, thereby allowing playback of the recorded data. While in the Playback mode, replaying of recorded data is controlled by the Digital Audio Playback (DAP) Unit.

During this time, a 620 Hz to 660 Hz signal is generated within the A200S which is used to test the circuitry of all the audio channels. In a successful test, the A200S Recorder provides a TEST INDICATOR signal which lights the green TEST indicator mounted on the front panel of the S151/S161, S152/S162, and S251/S261 Control Units.

Profiler software to provide a means for extracting and display- ing a latched fault condition and producing a fault log record for the A200S. This test equipment and procedure is to be used only on recorders with a Latched Fault condition as indicated by Fault Light, DS3, on the Main Proces- sor PWA.
MODEL A200S SSCVR G. Flash Crash Survivable Store Unit (FCSSU) The FCSSU is the memory storage assembly of the A200S. Electrical interface to the FCSSU is made by the Main Processor via a single 50-contact connector. Crash And Fire Protection The Flash Crash Survivable Store Unit (FCSSU) construction enables the A200S to meet or exceed the rigorous crash protection requirements of EUROCAE ED–56A.
Mount, Part Number 178E0919–00, is a mount used for this purpose. Refer to paragraph 5. for further information about the SSCVR mount. The A200S is fully compatible with ARINC Specification 757 and is directly interchangeable with all existing cockpit voice re- corder installations.
PWA level. Unit level theory of operation describes the general operation of the unit as a whole. Refer to the A200S Block Diagram located in Appendix A during the following discussions. The theory of operation for each PWA describes the electrical circuitry of the major functional groupings contained on the individual PWAs.
(ADPCM) encoder. The serial ADPCM data are then converted for storage in the solid-state flash memory in the FCSSU. The A200S has five recording streams for the 30-minute version and six for the 120-minute version. Four streams of 30-minutes’ duration provide high-quality recording.
Aircraft Interface PWA, P/N 205E0975–XX (Refer to Figure A1, Pages A4 through A7) The Aircraft Interface PWA connects the aircraft wiring to the A200S using a 57-pin DPXB-style connector designated J1. This PWA performs power regula- tion, lightning protection, RF attenuation, and discrete signal conditioning func- tions.
MODEL A200S SSCVR ground would be applied to pin 10. If this signal remains active for be- tween 9- and 10-consecutive minutes, the A200S will stop recording data. The ERASE_A signal is used to initiate the Bulk Erase function. When ERASE_A is left floating, ERASE is driven low.
Main Processor, an oscillator to pro- duce timing, an EPROM (electrically erasable programmable read only memory) which contains the software program for the A200S, RAM (ran- dom access memory) for temporary storage of data, and nonvolatile RAM which stores system parameters required for power-up.
Additionally, the A860 Test Panel can be used: (1) to activate the built-in-test utility of the A200S, (2) to initiate the Bulk Erase feature of the recorder, and (3) with the DAP Unit, to replay previously recorded audio.

1. GENERAL This section provides operational level testing and system troubleshooting procedures for the A200S Solid-State Cockpit Voice Recorder. Testing for the A200S is based upon a functional operational test procedure. The operational test procedure may serve as an acceptance criteria for the unit, as well as provide pointers to probable malfunctioning as- semblies in the event that the unit is not functioning properly.
ARINC Reports 604–1 and 624. Activating the BITE test is sufficient to determine the mission readiness of the A200S Cockpit Voice Recorder System. This operational test is performed as a pre-flight functional checkout of the A200S and is activated using front panel controls on its associated control unit.
Fairchild A860 Test Panel, P/N 9300A860. 4. TEST EQUIPMENT REQUIRED The A200S has been designed as a direct line replaceable unit (LRU) for the existing L3 Communications Cockpit Voice Recorders, Models A100, A100A, and A100S. As such,...
STOP RECORDING signal. The DAP Unit is designed especially for use with the A200S to accept digital audio playback data and convert it back to the ana- log audio streams as they were originally recorded. The DAP routes the audio channel outputs simultaneously to six individual audio output phono jacks so they can be copied via external recording equipment.

(PWAs) containing SMT components requires specialized facto- ry equipment, training, and techniques, therefore, such PWAs are not field-repairable. As a result, the A200S maintenance philosophy is replacement of failed assemblies. The replaceable assemblies are the Aircraft Interface (ACI) PWA, the Main Processor (MP) PWA, and the Flash Crash Survivable Store Unit (FCSSU).
